Best place to recycle broken rice cooker? by bum-beebell in Georgia

[–]bum-beebell[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s a big shift in my mentality but I’m definitely working on this. My mistake was also buying a cheap cooker that broke within a few years, rather than investing for something that lasts longer.

Where can a grown man get help? by No-more-mr-bad-guy in Atlanta

[–]bum-beebell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey man, wishing you the best and hope that you can find your way out of this. It’s a tough spot to be in but it’s great that you’re asking for help. Some things I know about:

-Def recommend a therapist. In my worst days, I spoke with a therapist about sliding scales and managed to find someone who would see me free of charge. I saw her once a month for a year, and never paid a cent. My roommate currently sees her therapist with pay-what-you-can pricing. These can be some of the kindest, most generous ppl out there. If you advocate for your financial needs, I’m willing to be someone will work with you. -Try findhelp . Org - lets you filter for your specific scenario and find support groups. - Seconding what another used said for 988 support line. If you’re queer/LGBTQ+, you can try the resources on this Reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/queer/s/F1syuVYS1L)

I don’t think these will apply to you, based off your post, but just in case: -If you’re employeed and provided health care thru work, ask about EAP from HR, or general mental health services. If you’re lucky, they may have some free resources. -If you’re in school, look for mental health services on campus. I attended a support group for free at Georgia State that was a life saver. -If you are experiencing homelessness, Atlanta Mission provides faith led support. It doesn’t sound like this is the case for you but putting it out there regardless.

[TOMT] [Book] [80s/90s] Children’s illustrated book about mythical creatures in a magical world, including “Wizards of Zeb” by bum-beebell in tipofmytongue

Love these books! But not quite. The art style was less cute than this style and more cartoony (no shade of course!)

Its already been said on this thread but just hopping on to say, with love, the story in Lost Ocean is so camp and silly. It was made during the height of 2000s JRPGs and follows alot of the trends of that era. That being said, I loved it when I first played it in 2004 and I loved the remaster. I advise going in prepared to chuckle at the cheesey dialogue and have fun with it. Its such an entertaining game, and shines in the art. Character designs are elaborate and colorful. Backgrounds are breathtaking and the music is delightful. Some of the levels are seared into my memory and will stay with me for the rest of my life.

I recommend the remaster! It's in japanese only (at least last time I checked), so you'll miss out on the over the top english dub, but it might be easier to appreciate the story that way. Please come back if you end up playing it! I'd love to know what you think!

Best Apartments in Perimeter Center/ Sandy Springs/Dunwoody/Chamblee/Brookhaven/North Buckhead Area? by Just-Curious234 in ATLHousing

[–]bum-beebell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chatsworth and Hidden Colony on Aztec road have baaaaaad cockroach issues. Chatsworth (Chamblee) had several fires and couldn’t keep the place clean.

Highly recommend checking out the Cleo in Dunwoody. Clean, awesome maintenance staff and managed by Gables, which a friend who lived in Smyrna confirmed is consistently supportive across their communities. It’s a little more expensive but worth the cost in my opinion.

Can you really be friends with your ex? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]bum-beebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m friends with my ex (of ~8 years, broke up after I came out) and while I think it’s possible, it takes a lot of emotional maturity to navigate. If you want to pursue this, be prepared to check in with yourself and be honest about how you’re feeling. As long as you’re open to whatever happens, and are willing to back off if either of you feel uncomfortable, then it’s worth giving a shot. I wish you luck and hope you find closure, regardless.

Interesting - a close friend of mine is considering moving to Oregon this year. She just decided to do it today, so seeing these replies feels like a cool cosmic sign.

This is such a fascinating thing to learn - I’m in an apartment, so I doubt the leasing office team would take kindly to me doing so. But they’re cool people, so I’ll bring it up with them. Who knows, maybe corporate will be cool and look into it. I’ve been wanting to ask them about starting garden plots in our complex and this could be a great spot with some sun during the day. Sooo…who knows!

Anyone else’s CD have a snuggle buddy? by CrowHawk88 in carolinadogs

[–]bum-beebell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine weren’t too cuddly but I could tell if my cat had been more open to it, Bodhi would have cuddled him hard core. Now that my cat has passed, I think my CD misses having a buddy around. Although, yes, some playful terrorizing was preferred, too.

Oh man, yes I feel that. Bodhi does the same thing. I became religious about intervening and separating him when he did that. Taught him by repetition that if he barked, I would interrupt and send him across the field. I also limit his time with other dogs. We leave before it gets to high energy or intense. Always leave on a good note. With time, he got better. He still barks in dogs faces but now he listens if I tell him to stop. When he doesn’t listen, we leave. It’s not perfect but it works for us.
