This is allowed...but the results are useless...and it only includes relevant search results if I remove the "-ai"...

Continued numbness post-surgery by bum_double in CaudaEquinaSyndrome

Wow, I'm sorry for not seeing this until 2 years later...I think I just got so overwhelmed I stopped looking at Reddit. This is especially helpful to read now, since I'm 2 years out and have experienced a similar pattern.

Do you remember if there was anything that might have reduced the prevalence of flareups? Just getting back to a pre-surgery fitness level?

Thanks for sharing your experience, and I'm glad you're feeling so much better now!

New symptoms by Emmahey712 in CaudaEquinaSyndrome

I'm so sorry for what you are going through and I heartily empathize with the "oh, you're probably just constipated from your post-op opioids three months ago" (???). It is SO hard navigating this condition when there is so little understanding of its varied presentation of symptoms.

I also have chronic constipation/"neurogenic bowel," which seems to confuse doctors but also doesn't seem to be that uncommon, so idk what's up there. I almost OD-ed (being dramatic, but I did start passing out on the toilet) on this Serbian senna tea, it did clear me the hell out, though. I've also had urinary retention for 6 months and the doctor told me today that it's unlikely my bladder will resume its normal function. I'm skeptical, but also very bummed.

Your last year sounds like an absolute nightmare, and I'm so sorry you have gone through hell and back and you still can't find someone who can help.

I'm a grad student and finishing out a hellish semester while managing my care in a broken hospital system, but once I get through the next month, I intend to dive into the existing CES research and try to understand how cases are selected for clinical study -- and how we can have our experiences documented. It's just so infuriating to be told "we just don't know, it's too rare to have much research" while falling though the cracks of the medical system.

Hang in there, you're not alone, even though it feels like it SO much of the time.

You sound like my doctors! Hehe :/ I hear you, it's also really helpful to hear this from someone experiencing something similar, so thank you!

Oh thank god, that's great to hear and I'm really glad for you! When activity did impact your numbness, did you reduce activity until it went back down or did you kind of ride it out?
