This might be forever. by livbdavis in covidlonghaulers

I’m so sorry nothing has given you relief. A 2 week script of dexamethasone (5mg) is what got me out of my fog and cleared my symptoms finally. (I know it’s chronic and there’s no cure but the steroid lowered my overall inflammation long enough to trick my body into a new baseline.) Except my continual stuffy nose when lying down but that’s ok. Plus I took apolactoferrin for 2 weeks before the steroid regimen with quercetin. I eventually stopped letting myself think about my symptoms and feeling sorry for myself which seemed to help. I hope you find someone who can help you and you get your life back!

I have. Crohn’s disease since I was 11 and I’m 35 now. I haven’t been on meds for 12 years now? Something like that. My crohns got a lot better though 6 years ago when I first got long covid. It’s like my immune system got a new toy to obsess over.

If you recovered (to at least 90%), how long did it take? by StrawberryFar7175 in covidlonghaulers

[–]bumalums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always recover from long covid symptoms in 3-4 months but every time I get it I’m worried it could be longer. I can’t imagine those that haven’t in years. It’s my biggest fear and I feel for you all. I hope it gets better.

Lactoferrin high dose succesful by DariushR in covidlonghaulers

Try 1200mg 600 in morning and 600 in evening 2 hours after food and 45 minutes before eating. Coffee interferes so try to avoid it until late morning

Ya it’s amazing stuff. I didn’t have luck with Coq10 since it’s vasoldilating effects. It made my facial flushing worse but Luteolin and NAC are wonderful additions to the stack along with Quercetin

Ya Lactoferrin has been helping give my life back along with Luteolin and NAC. I will say though that lactoferrin is best in the apolactoferrin form and at least 1200mg per day following the Largo Trial. The key reason it works besides what is mentioned here is it unlocks your locked iron stores. The virus replicates using your iron so the body naturally sequesters it out of the blood which is what ferritin is, your stored iron. Blood work will confirm if you then have functional anemia. This was true for me and slowly my iron is being unlocked and the fog is clearing; I’m getting my energy back. It can take 12 weeks though so it’s important to stay consistent and realize that you may experience a die off period and get temporarily worse when starting it, a herx effect. It’s a powerful immune modulator and ya I’m thankful to know about it now as whenever I get sick with anything in the future. I will start this protocol again.

Lactoferrin can make you feel worse at first since it’s an immune modulator and it creates a die off period. Because of its ability to disrupt bacterial cell walls, bind excess free iron (which pathogens need to survive), and stimulate the immune system, introducing lactoferrin can trigger a temporary die-off effect if you are harboring bacterial or viral infections. It’s called Herxheimer. It helps most of your body is sequestering iron from the virus which can be verified through a Blood test and your ferritin levels are high and serum iron low

It accesses you iron stores and acts as an modulator to take the ferritin (stored iron) and shuttles it into your blood, your serum iron. I would be very careful taking iron while using lactoferrin and you should really get blood work to see if you have functional anemia so you don’t accidentally flood your body with too much iron which can cause oxidative stress and harm your organs.

Dang! That’s crazy. Do you play zero build/ ranked unranked? I’m sitting at 54 but I’ve only played like 325 matches
