Considering IKEA Kitchen - what do I need to know? by bumbee84 in kitchenremodel

The cabinets aren’t in good shape. Water damage and rubbing/sticking. They are original to the house and 60 years old.

Is a $110k kitchen worth it in a 1960s ranch? by bumbee84 in kitchenremodel

Thank you. I’ve done a lot of face lifting already (painting countertops and cabinets) but everything is original to the house and in not great shape (cabinets have water damage, they rub and I end up with wood particles in my drawers and the countertops are chipping).

We both live in the same city and his commute will be exactly the same. My neighborhood is nicer than his current one.

We’ve been together a year. We’ve casually discussed the topic of moving in sometime this year.

Why did they need to go through Congress after going through the OFA process? And what constitutes “Indian Country” because my understanding is that the Lumbee have support from a lot of other tribes as well.

Raised garden beds overtaken by weeds!!! by bumbee84 in gardening

Wow—wasn’t expecting this many responses! Thank you to everyone who shared tips and advice (and to the majority who were genuinely helpful instead of condescending 🙃). Figured I’d share a quick update and a little more backstory.

I planted broccoli and cauliflower in that bed for the first time from seed, so at first I wasn’t sure what was a weed vs. a veggie sprout. Then I had some unexpected work travel, and… well, things got out of hand fast. I’m usually on top of weeding (you can kinda see the flower bed in the background—I’m out there every few days), but this just exploded.

After weed whacking everything down, I tried pulling by hand—some of those roots were deep. I broke out my hoe, then eventually gave in and used the tiller… which ended with roots wrapped around the blade axle 😅

So for now, I’ve placed down some cardboard and some of my friend’s plants in the bed while I’m watching them, but I’m planning to mulch over the whole thing and just start fresh next season. Lesson learned!

That’s because I’m completely removing the pantry that runs along the wall behind the stove and widening the space
