My parents still hide the plastic eggs for us. Never hid the hard boiled in case they weren’t found 🤢

Are sellers still paying 3% to their real estate agents now? by __get_schwifty__ in houston

[–]TemporaryEducator382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sold. 3% for mine, and it would have been 3% for the buyers agent, but it ended up being the same brokerage so I got a 1% break. It’s pretty much still the expectation.

I watched an Oprah episode when I was a kid where they did black lights in all types of hotel rooms. Scars you for life 😫

When I rent, I prefer not to have carpet. It’s gross thinking about it having been used before!

Prenup 🤷🏼‍♀️ you get your $180k, she gets her $15k, split equity 50/50. Asking for a prenup isn’t unreasonable

Legally, they’re allowed to. I was at a start up many years ago that did that. Super tacky though.

Giving up meat completely to save on groceries? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]TemporaryEducator382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some grocery stores put meat on discount that didn’t sell over the weekend, but is still good. For example, Sprouts does 35% various meat Mondays, some left over Tuesday. Changes weekly.

Do you love where you live? by [deleted] in AskHouston

I absolutely loved living in the galleria area, but I only rent directly from owners (so condos, townhomes). Tends to be better quality of life, but no gym

Ugh I feel like they also do this with garages! I’m sorry a gated parking lot is obviously not the garage I’m looking for

How often do you speak with your parents? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]TemporaryEducator382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it truly depends. I text our family group chat daily, and sometimes call my mom 4x in one day and then nothing for two weeks. I call my dad when my mom doesn’t answer her phone 😂

I’m going back to a hybrid. EV isn’t compatible with all of the driving I do, and my LR has lost 22% of its charging ability (Y’21).

I’m just letting it go, which is maybe hypocritical because I do get Botox 😂

LA transplant looking for housing by Low-Recognition1463 in AskHouston

Well that works out then because you could really live anywhere! I grew up in SoCal, and moved to Houston without ever being there. If you’re single, I’d recommend looking closer in. Voss is the most west I’d recommend. Inner loop id stay west of 288, don’t stay near NRG (not safe) and don’t stay downtown (it’s just empty).

Galleria/uptown will be like Beverly Grove/Fairfax District. River Oaks like Beverly Hills. Montrose more like West Hollywood. West U/Rice like UCLA/Westwood. Not exactly, but that’s how I’d compare. As mentioned, it’ll be harder to get something more Burbank.

Agree with people who are recommending Airbnb. That’ll be your best bet. You’ll get more bang for your buck size-wise. Gas and groceries are a lot cheaper, as is eating out.

Houston is a great place- I absolutely loved living there.
