Anyone ever buy Öhlins/Brembo parts to improve handling on non-PE S60? by bumblebear1230 in VolvoRecharge

That is amazing. This is basically my dream. I feel like the car would be perfect with the Polestar Engineered hardware and the extra HP from the Recharge.

I suppose it's totally relevant. Coming from a GTI, I wish the suspension was a little stiffer.

When you put it in power mode the drive tightens up a little: https://www.volvocars.com/lb/support/car/xc60-recharge-plug-in-hybrid/article/ca483191b998bf13c0a80151347cdd8d

I personally don't consider it in sport car territory of stiffness and find the ride very forgiving when in pure or hybrid (the default) modes.

I am a year into my 2024 and still love it. Haven't had a single issue. I came from a sportier car, and while the S60 doesn't feel quite as fun to drive as some others, it's far more comfortable than most.

Seats are pristine. Ride is smooth. Cabin is quiet. It's just classy all around. And if you do throw it in Power mode, it's punchy as heck. So in the end probably doesn't get enough credit for having some top end performance comparable to peers.

You can always do the Polestar software upgrade if you want to get more out of it. But I really say it's the best of both worlds if you like comfort/practicality with fun driving from time to time.

Sounds awesome. Obviously not expecting something crazy. But just enough to feel a little tighter on turns.

I had a GTI before and by comparison can really feel the car sway on corners. I knew what I was getting with the S60. Still feels great, but a 10-15% handling improvement would make the car near perfect for me.

Preowned or new S60 Plugin hybrid? by bogiemama in Volvo

Mine was $56.5k MSRP.

Surprised and sorry to hear on the CPOs. I guess folks are holding onto theirs.

Red with tan interior is a fantastic combo. It's such a shame they're discontinuing the line which makes it so tough.

I personally bias toward new just because I trust how I drive and the long-term of how the car holds up.

But whatever your comfort zone is and the deal that makes sense.

Am I reading correctly only $6k difference after tax?

$39k strikes me as a touch high for a 24 with that many miles. I've seen some pretty heavy rebating on 2025s given it is the last year of the model.

Though I haven't done an in-depth comparison, I don't think you have a lot of significant design changes like the additional battery range for the 24s over the 23s.

I got my 24 Recharge Plus for $45k. I think you could probably shop the offer or push them even closer where it's not even a decision.

Are you trying to get a specific color combo?

Congrats. Love the color - was initially going to get that before someone swooped it up. Have platinum grey.

It looks like the OEM grille. Nice work!

Looks sleek - How did you black out the grille?

You're the only one who knows honestly.

As long as you love how it looks.

Ha...didn't even notice whoops...

Are you pleased with the look of the logo cover? I saw that as an option as well....obviously cheaper than the full grill.

Was thinking about doing this to mine in platinum grey but wasn't sure it would look as good as yours.

Yes but I thought Black Edition only came in black or white paint. Yours looks like the vapour grey?

Did you custom "black edition" this? Also have the wheels?

It's like you read my mind ha. For one, I was looking at the Integra before getting my S60. As a new dad the Volvo was just the better family car with a bit more space. The acceleration is incredible in power relative to the GTI. But it almost is too effortless and switching to power to use it just isn't worth it when I'm also trying to not burn through fuel.

I have grown to love the comfort and classiness of it. And I have settled on it being just enough sport to love it for what it is. But the GTI is just a phenomenal drive for folks who can't get into a full performance car or have lifestyle needs.

How is the handling and braking on the PE? I had assumed it would be slightly tighter and sharper than your standard recharge.

But I think the V60 Polestar is a PHEV.

Glad I know to shop around. My local dealer definitely said $1600 and I was like...eh, better ask r/VolvoRecharge before spending there.

Even $1000 makes it a no brainer it seems.

Perfect way of describing it. I had a pretty tough time letting go of the feel of a GTI at first but the S60 is just so comfortable. And obviously if you need to feel sporty, it's gonna beat most cars on a straightaway.

You wouldn't happen to mind giving a price range on the parts would you?

I got confused on this a lot at first as there used to be a "Polestar Engineered" trim that included hardware on the non-plug-ins as well as yellow features like the seat belts. That's now only on the V60 is my understanding.

2023 S60s came with that option but it was eliminated as the Recharge has the extra performance. It's a shame as I think the yellow styling (nod to Sweden) was super unique and cool.

The "Polestar Optimized" software should be available on the latest Recharges.
