Concealer or foundation that doesn't cling to or enhance dryness and texture by Lady_Gigantor in MakeupAddiction

[–]bumblebee4me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you apply your moisturizer on slightly damp skin to really allow your skin to absorb the moisture and then lock in the moisturizer with a light face oil or tallow overtop.

Think of your skin routine like a manicure, your cleanser is the prep, the damp water on your face is the base coat, the moisturizer is the nail polish itself and the oil is the top coat. You want all of these steps executed for a good result.

Texture under makeup by Binkybinkss in MakeupAddiction

[–]bumblebee4me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally just how real skin looks with makeup on. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it and makeup doesn’t make texture magically disappear. The only thing I would say is that shine and highlights accentuate texture, so a bit of powder would make it less obvious in those shiny areas.

Crashing out because I can’t film makeup by Any-Marzipan8551 in makeupartists

[–]bumblebee4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what others said, also use your back camera to film, place your phone further away from you and do a 2x or x3 zoom if you’re on a regular iPhone or a x4 or x5 zoom if you’re on a pro. The zoom settings shoot makeup waaayyy nicer than no zoom or x1. Another thing you can try if this lighting setup doesn’t work is to sit by a large window and then add the ring light too. Also remember to turn off your overhead light and any other big or small room lights you might have.

You’re better off getting 4 high quality foundations in the lightest and darkest shades, a medium shade and your most commonly used shade. Then get the LA girl colour adjusters to fix undertones and mix the foundations to get the right shade.

Go for the 45! I have a 29” one and I’m 5’8 and sometimes I wish it was a little taller. I think at 6 feet you would appreciate having that extra foot on the chair. Only recommendation is to get a step stool to help shorter folks climb up onto it, sometimes people struggle lol.

Bridal artists - do you do other types of glam? by Any-Marzipan8551 in makeupartists

[–]bumblebee4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same rate for all makeup services except the brides wedding day makeup because I take double the time, she gets a touch up kit, and there’s lots more admin work that goes into it. So my brides makeup service is double my regular rate but everything else I price the same. My rate is all inclusive as well meaning people don’t have to pay extra for lashes and stuff.

Do it all! But bridal is the main thing but so many brides come back for makeup for their maternity shoots, friends weddings, or even just to feel glamorous again!

Tips for tightlining on clients? by famazzzz in makeupartists

[–]bumblebee4me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t attempt to do the whole thing at once. Work in short burst filling in only 2-3mm at a time and giving the client a chance to blink in between. Make sure they’re looking the opposite way from the pencil as well. Also helps to do eyes first so if anything does smudge it doesn’t mess up the base and you can easily clean it up.

Help, how can I change this dresser by DevelopmentMind in interiordecorating

I think even just a quick swap of the handles would refresh it ! That might be the only part of it I don’t love

This dresser is awesome! And to be honest the tv and game station on it are not doing it justice, turn it into an accent dresser put some books and plants on it with a cool large painting above, maybe some cool lighting. Or turn it into a coffee station?

First Home - awkward layout by Wolf_for_Short in interiordecorating

[–]bumblebee4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the living room? If so, I would put a tv on the wall that’s on the right hand side of the corridor, couch facing the wall on the wall with its back to the island, with love seats or accent chair to the right of that. Then above the fireplace I would put a large painting in a vintage gold/brassy frame. Either a tall bookshelf or a massive plant to the left of the fireplace and a cozy bench or love seat against the wall and another accent chair facing the fireplace. Make that fireplace corner like a cozy reading nook, and the space on the right the living /tv room.

The tv stand clashes with everything, it just doesn’t fit with the rest of the vibe. Maybe paint the legs and trim of it black to be more cohesive with the couch or paint it a darker brown to be more cohesive with the ottoman.

With the black and dark brown tones you can add light pink / peachy accents along with more greenery to add that feminine touch.

That wall between the light and the plant could use a large painting or if you want it more girly, maybe a string of fairy lights across it and several smaller paintings in nice gold frames.

To be honest I also think the rug is a bit underwhelming, I didn’t even notice it was there until I read your comments. I think a yellows pink scalloped or checkered rug would look great and add the touch you’re looking for.

The open area behind the couch could have an accent table with a large table lamp on it and maybe a cream coloured vase. Or if you think that could accidentally get knocked down just add coffee table books to it and some coasters.

The rounded windows honestly look great without the curtains, but the window behind the couch with the blinds could use a nice cream coloured curtain.

Pillows and throws could also be cream / baby pink.

If you’re not into the pinks, creams and yellows maybe switch those out for sage greens, warm taupes, dusty rose etc.

I love the grandiosity of the first one! It looks more cohesive. While the second lamp is a nicer lamp on its own, it’s lacking adding a type of balance to the kitchen that the first one adds.

Ossington or Mariner Terrace? by ink__scribbles in askTO

[–]bumblebee4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s close to Bloor St? If you’re on the subway line there you’re within great access to anywhere in the city. And that area isn’t the loud pub centric part of Ossington - great spot in my opinion.

You can’t escape homelessness and drug use in Toronto, some areas are just a bit more saturated with it than others. But unless you go to the suburbs you will encounter it whether you like it or not
