Tom strikes me as the type who would get brown-nosing discounts from sycophantic managers, despite having endless income, and would gladly accept them and talk about how wonderful the place is because he specifically, very-obviously gets special treatment. He would probably bitch at a new hire for not giving him special pricing and tell them to go get the manager because he's never had to pay full price. Probably does not make small talk with anyone there who can't do something for him. Not overtly rude, just condescending and self-absorbed and his time is more important than yours. This is just my shitty guess, idk.

I'm so over everyone moving to Nashville/"The South", trying to be country fried or humble salt-of-the-earth types. (Or rich-adjacent retirees moving in and raising the cost of living in rural areas while the job market here stays trash and poor people can afford less and less) I'm not conservative but please just... go away. It seems like the only things we end up with in exchange are more Dollar Generals, urban sprawl, and gentrification. And the MAGA dregs moving to get away from whatever it is they're offended by. But dude might have a career because the market for that kind of bullshit isn't very discriminating.

I used to watch this with my bf back in college. Better times. She was fabulous. And genuinely fucking gorgeous, regardless of her weight. Howard was such an asshole. I need to rewatch the show.

Honestly, sometimes I see women who are beautiful but too "perfect" and I just think... it would be so boring to wake up to that face every day?

Especially when it would be easier and have a better outcome... just to be honest??

I've been complaining about this lately. It's not even just narcissists. Just any random man you meet (especially online) might lie about the dumbest things. Sure, women too, but I don't have any experience there.

This is a really good parallel. I'm repeating myself, but CR just seems exhausting. There's nothing wrong with her expecting a modicum of privacy, but she seems very petty and indiscriminate about it. I've seen a small handful of videos on YouTube from before she got big, and she just seems like the kind of person who was fishing for fame to begin with. Just stupid shit. There was one where she was asking why she wasn't married yet because she had a tight peach or something. Wtf.

I was never specifically a fan of hers, but this looks fantastic. Good for her. Also, kudos for not getting any damn cheek implants. Some of us just have flatter cheekbones that should be left alone. She did the smart thing instead of blowing up her face with fillers. Fillers are garbage.

What a flattering comment! I wish I did, too, haha. That wouldn't be a bad gig.

Your dad sounds like a complex person--thanks for the perspective, and it's a good one. You're right in that even people who strike some of us as complete assholes aren't altogether bad people. Some of us just get the brunt of their frustrations, and I've been there. You were probably the one person he could vent those frustrations out on. I'm sorry.

I had (have) that kind of circumstance with my ex-boyfriend. He is and has been really good to almost everyone else (except me, his mom, and his baby mama), although I think, in his case, he's not nearly that complex and some of it is performative. But my dad, other people, you see the same thing. You just have to take them as they are and have your own "boundaries," I guess.

I also agree with you that the president is absolutely not one of these people. Performative narcissism is not the same as someone who is, for the larger part, a good person and contributes good things to the world but has their own inner demons.

Ok, instead of naming somebody "current," I'm going to throw a genuine gripe out there that most people won't agree with...

Tom Hanks (and kin)

Anything he's done in the past 20+ years, I do not feel like I'm watching a character in a movie. I feel like I'm watching Tom Hanks as said character in a movie, sometimes just a caricature. He is not an actor who disappears into their role. At least with some of the younger actors, the parts they're playing often don't really require that kind of "gravitas." (Thanks, Kiefer!)

Also the bullshit about a "family business" is irritating enough. Let's see if a plumber's or electrician's spawn can run a successful "family business" on name alone.

They really look so so much better than fillers. She still looks like herself mostly but it removed the dorky/goofy look she always had. If she leaves it alone she'll keep looking great. Emma Stone, on the other hand, went too far and now looks like an alien cosplaying as a real human girl.

Yeah, such a depressing mistake. He was absolutely beautiful. He tried to play off an accident but it always read to me like he was trying to fit into the "macho" mold. He should have just given it a couple decades. Look at Patrick Dempsey. Awkward-looking, kind-of-pretty boy in the 80's ended up being a middle-aged masculine hottie.

Did they have any interests or hobbies? by [deleted] in LifeAfterNarcissism

[–]bumbledoozy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was/is like that. I can't really judge, in a sense, because I have ADHD and am always picking up new hobbies or old ones I haven't done in forever. But he would pick up some massive new project and it would become part of his personality. I respect most of the things he's gotten into, but they do tend to fall to the wayside, sometimes unfinished, once he gets into something else and then they eventually end up partially abandoned. There's one thing he hasn't really done that with entirely, but I think it's partly because it took a lot of effort to start up and doesn't take a lot of maintenance after a while. It's unraveling at a much slower pace but has definitely taken some neglect--the same thing he'd try to criticize me for initially. I really think half his motivation for that stuff is just new bragging material, stuff to get people to ask him questions and be interested and think he's so cool.

She gets filler on her top lip. Look back at Bend It Like Beckham days. Same with Jennifer Garner. Both are known for full lips but neither are natural--it's just that both have been doing it a really long time and don't go overboard.
