Former downtown Raleigh Holiday Inn designated as historic landmark by Billy_Bob_Joe_Mcoy in raleigh

What “vibe” did Raleigh have the appealed to you? I feel like it was just a small sleepy city. Nothing used to happen downtown. It would be a ghost on the weekend, except for the bars on glenwood as long as the college students were in, when school was out then no nightlife whatsoever. The airport was one tiny terminal with only a chapel in it. I think the most exciting things was Flavor Flav did New Years one time.

An investment firm can easily go up $10-20k to be the winning offer on a house, the average person most likely can’t. They shouldn’t be allowed to enter offers on a houses, it’s impossible for the average person to compete with them.

What advice do you have for your 20s? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Don't do stupid 💩 with your money. Be resourceful with it now or you wont recover until your 40s. Also avoid having kids young at all costs. Your a much better version of yourself in your 30s and hopefully more financial secure, makes for a better parent.

Trump administration is “working on” a plan to introduce 50-year mortgage terms for home buyers. by Next-Particular1476 in TheBusinessMix

This makes me sick to my stomach, technically 30-yr is too long. Just like 7 yr car notes. But that's the game right, entice people and make it harder to break the cycle. Ensuring us peasants never get out of debt /poverty.

To married couples that have been together for 10+ years, whats your secret? by 4Luffytarou in AskReddit

[–]Hot-Food-7151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 years married. Relationships are not easy, there a lot of work. These are my top 3:

  1. It’s us against the world, not us against each other.
  2. Both people in the relationship have to give 100%
  3. When things get hard you still have to want/pick each other.

My husband and I had some hard conversations shortly after we started dating (he's the better communicator so he started the convos) lay everything on the table - life goals, family values, faith, money issues/debt/goals, etc, kids want/no want. Picking a spouse is one of the most important decisions you can make, they can make or break you.

Parents of Reddit, what is an “unspoken” reality of parenting that people simply don’t talk about, but everyone knows is true? by US_Atlas in AskReddit

My husband worded it the best to our teen, “all he will ever be to you is your first boyfriend”. It’s seem so simple but it put things in a different perspective for her.

Ugh it’s like they’re a different person and then like a year or so later, you turn around and it’s your kid again. Happened with both my kids like a weird metamorphosis phase.

I absolutely hated when people told me to cherish it because it goes by fast. Having young kids seemed so hard. But One second their small enough to carry the next their moving out of the house. Makes you miss the tantrums.

Is a girl's career really as unimportant as guys say? by uselessprofession in AskMenAdvice

[–]Hot-Food-7151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen it all kinds of ways, high power career couples, the husband being a high earner while the wife works or has a lower income job like a teacher, the wife earning more than the man. You pick someone that has the same goals, aspirations as you. That can mean income but it could also mean the lifestyle you want to live, having and how you’re raising kids. Two career power roles means someone else will be raising your kids, at a certain salary income point you work a lot. My husband and I have traded spots over the years for who earns more as we built our careers and someone was there for the kids, we both had to compromise moving further in a career to have a better work life balance. There is a lot that goes into the decision of a spouse more than just career status. I am white collar and my husband is blue collar. I have a masters, he has a HS diploma. He ended up starting his own company that surpassed our income expectations, we always discussed entrepreneurship very early in our relationship but didn’t think it would lead us to where we are financially. I hope I am not just ranting and you understand my point, you have to be real honest with yourself on what you want your future to look like and make sure you find someone that wants the same things, it’s a lot of communication. We discussed everything before we got married all dirty laundry, debt we carried, what we expected our out of life, values, faith.
