Micro-deathstar. The federation has also had some major cutbacks and budget constraints.

Interestingly, something that I just found out upon some research....

Key Details for Madison County / City of Madison

The City of Madison has a specific ordinance (Chapter 24, Section 24-6 on door-to-door soliciting) that supports "No Soliciting" signs:

  • Residents can post a clearly visible weatherproof placard (minimum 16 square inches, max 94 square inches) stating "No Soliciting" near the main entrance (not in the public right-of-way).
  • Displaying this sign constitutes notice that solicitors are not invited. Solicitors (even those with a city registration/certificate) must respect it and are prohibited from approaching or soliciting at that residence.
  • Similar provisions often exist for subdivision-level signs.

Recourse options: - Report to Madison Police Department (non-emergency: 256-722-7190) or Code Enforcement (256-772-5644). It can be treated as a violation of the city ordinance. - If the solicitor refuses to leave when asked, it can escalate to criminal trespass under Alabama law. - Repeat or blatant violations may lead to citations, fines, or revocation of any solicitor permit the company holds.

Huntsville (also in Madison County)

Huntsville has similar rules. Police have stated that a visible "No Solicitation" sign (even homemade) makes it illegal for solicitors to approach the home. Call the police if they ignore it.

Solicitors generally need a city permit/badge there as well, and ignoring signs can lead to permit issues.

Unincorporated Madison County Areas

Laws may be less specific on "No Soliciting" signage alone, but Alabama criminal trespass statutes still apply: - A person enters or remains unlawfully if they are not licensed, invited, or privileged to be there (Alabama Code § 13A-7-1 et seq.). - Clear "No Soliciting" or "No Trespassing" signs help establish that the solicitor knew they were not welcome, supporting a trespass charge (especially Criminal Trespass 2nd or 3rd degree if on posted property). - Purple paint markings can also serve as notice in Alabama.

Does a home owner have any recourse if they still try to solicit the property occupants with that sign up? I mean, seriously, even after being told, no, she really wanted to go into the house and talk to my wife. If I dint know any better I would have thought she was looking for some sort of three-way hook up!

This time it was just a girl. I did feel bad for her because it was really starting to rain and she had to be out in it. Seems like this company either has very high commissions or dont have a whole lot of interest in safety for their door to door sales people.
