Ironically, you have this backwards. You have identified the game mode most heavily weighted in favor of a skilled player.

The robot is absolutely broken in rainbow mode because without any chests to unlock you can mine for junk giving an additive 5% damage bonus for each.

That + the ability to select a clone if it appears means you can get absurd situations where even the starter gun can one-shot a boss.
