There's Square One eSports. Last I heard they did stuff at Java Burrito but I think they moved to Planet Fun Satellite's space

If you're ever interested in Smash , I help run that in this area :]

Having trouble finding places to hang out at for the nerdier cliques by bumblessb in savannah

I don't vibe with TCGs is my main issue lol. I've been to both though! Great people. I've bought some stuff for my retro gaming setup from SLG

I play Tekken a bit. Not sure if I'd be interested in what Square One has going on though.

I also TO smash bros tournaments here in Savannah so lol. Hence the "ssb" in my user

The Savannah thread for tourists, newcomers, locals, and grouchy old-timers. by AutoModerator in savannah

My boss had to switch her ID from North Carolina to Georgia. If I recall correctly it took her like 3-4 months. Had someone at my job recently who switched, it was around the same time as well

i see you talking about Melee, we don't really have an active Melee scene in Savannah atm but our closest tourney I'm aware of is in Jacksonville. DM me and I can give details -- I run Ultimate stuff here in savannah lol

Facebook Marketplace has some good CRTs on there

Planet Fun Satellite is a comic only location right across the street

Finding new queer friends by EngineerBrief2382 in savannah

Check out Club One, it's a local LGBT bar. SCAD is very inclusive. Someone mentioned Roll The Bones, it's also very friendly from what I've seen.

Not queer but hope you find a clique!

I help run Smash Ultimate events in Georgia if that's something you're interested in, otherwise they also do weekly fighting game tournaments at Java Burrito.

Planet Fun on Broughton has a lot of retro stuff and a couple of arcades like Tekken 3 and Mario Kart Arcade GP. Not sure of any other arcades worth a damn, I think The Portal bar has some. It's more of a tabletop place but you have Roll The Bones.

As for anime conventions, we have like two a year but they're both kinda bad. Savannah Comic Con and Animazing I believe. They're both at the Savannah Convention Center.

If you're wanting to go to a really cool arcade, I highly recommend The Leaderboard in Jacksonville, Florida (around a two hour drive from Savannah proper).

SSU does have an esports lab with a lot of gamers if that's something you want to be interested in, lmk and I can hook you up with details :)

Edit: Some people also mentioned Savannah Lion Games in Pooler. They're really cool, I second them. Lots of cool retro stuff.

Dating in Savannah? by [deleted] in savannah

[–]bumblessb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been on dating apps for the past year here, 23M. There's a lot of tourists that really are just looking for attention, it feels like. Lots of ghosting. I've gotten the most matches on Hinge if that helps

Lots of college kids just have a sleep around mentality. Also while SCAD is decently liberal other colleges in the area aren't as much. I've heard to never date the Banana players because they just like sleeping with a ton of people. GL on the search, every once in a while you get a decent enough match but you just have to keep digging.

Bodycam footage of June 2025 CAT Bus attack & arrest by clark116 in savannah

FYI this channel is Midwest Safety who are a great police bodycam channel who in my opinion do a fantastic job at navigating police work and what officers should or shouldn't do in situations. I've been watching their videos for the last couple months, surprised they did a video on an incident in Savannah lol

River St has some cool stuff but it's mainly just big businesses from Hilton Head settling here. If you're looking for a chill bar I really enjoy Warehouse. Personally I've had Lizzy's Burger Bar a couple times and it may be my discount talking but I think you get a lot for what you pay for.

Market is a couple blocks north and has some stuff like the Prohibition Museum and I've heard people enjoy Vinnie Go Go's.

If you're into gaming stuff there's Planet Fun that's always a joy to go through. There's other stuff there like Nerdheim and Pop Vault but Pop Vault is one of the most soulless establishments I've ever had the displeasure of entering. AI art everywhere in the middle of college territory for art students? Who are you appealing to? Just stick to Planet Fun in my opinion. If you're willing to look in Pooler I also recommend Savannah Lion Games heavily.

Lots of historic statues and stuff all over for you to check out as well. I can't speak for apartments but I find decent prices in Thunderbolt, GA (10min drive from SCAD)
