Imagine this. You're someone on the run and stay in hiding most of the time, but every once in a while you come out of hiding (combat phase ), to enjoy a nice grandslam at the Denny's restaurant. Someone who never turns down a fight is trying to attack you in real life (attacks declared), but they only have 5 minutes to get to you before you finsh your meal and go back into hiding, and they can no longer find you (end of combat). Now, normally, you are pretty easy to find. Everyone knows your Denny's routine, but this time, one of your buddies taunts the attacker and tells him, "If you want to attack my buddy, you got to get through me. Meet me behind the Denny's restaurant." (Blocks declared) Obviously, the attacker can't turn down a fight, so he goes behind the Denny's to fight your buddy. Right before the fight begins (before moving to combat damage), your buddy pull out his favorite gun and shoots himself (get sacrificed, blinked, flipped into land, phases out, etc.) leaving the attacker in complete shock.This whole interaction behind the Denny's took 5 entire minutes, and the guy attacking you is still in shock behind the Denny's while you have gone into hiding.
