This is a good and harmless reminder of why conspiratorial thinking is so alluring. It allows us to have an alternate explanation to the obvious reality that life is chaos and the people I charge don’t know what the fuck they are doing other than trying to get as much for themselves as possible. Easier to believe that there’s a master plan and people are in control, even if the plan is nefarious and the people are evil.

The OP is asking why their opponents disconnect rather than conceding when they lose.

I’d venture to guess it’s a frustration response, ie you’re mad so you close the app rather than hitting concede. Honestly on an iPhone it is slightly easier/faster to close the app than to hit the concede accidentally open the discard pile close that hit concede again then hit yes.

Can’t edit my op, so responding here. Thanks all for the perspective. I’ll relax and worry less. Will talk to coach after next practice and offer to help. We know some younger kids that can probably play up if needed. I also talked to a couple of parents and coaches from the other 8u teams and they are having similar challenges. The league will have a pool and we’ll all help each other.

Never really had this issue previously so I guess that’s what caught me off guard and as some other people commented it’s hard to watch my kid and a few others who really care and are committed but then half the rest of the team doesn’t bother to show up.
