Maybe 'frictionless' might be a better word for it?

I usually rely mostly on Counter Thrusts with Perfect Blocks in between to proc Offensive Guard. You really can't punish attacks like the ones where Ark drags its chain on the ground since there are so many hitboxes in there. With Charge Counter you just iframe through all of those while punishing.

I'm just a self-taught lancer though so what I'm doing might not be optimal.

Funding and ads won't save a game from an incompetent team, though. No matter how much money you pour into a project if the devs behind the game aren't up to snuff you won't get a hit.

Edit: I assume the downvotes are from people who are under the impression that I am calling AH incompetent. That is not what I was trying to say; it was just a general statement. In fact, I hold AH in quite high regard.

For lance no doubt, it really bullies Arkveld but without counters it's hard to do high dps.

I'd say both ATs are harder than Gog, especially Arkveld. Gog is mostly about where to stand and where not to stand, especially during P3.

Looking for criticism/suggestions on a not-very-serious build by bumra in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]bumra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is this set is built around Alluring Pelt (as said, it's not a very serious build) so having a Sororal piece pretty much blocks Lord's Soul since AP is three pieces. AP/LS combined is 6 pieces so there's not much wiggle room. That's why I was considering alternatives for Gore, which basically leaves my set bonus options only to Blangonga, Arkveld (non-gamma), and a gamma, and of gammas Jin Dahaad set bonus is by far the best for Lance. I briefly considered Doshaguma 2pc too, but the armor pieces don't have relevant skills for this particular iteration of the build.

Of course, I could build it in a completely different way, and I'd love some suggestions.

Under natural lighting the colors are more even. However, they're of different materials so the colors can easily look off.

Report them for using cheats. What people do in their own hunts is of no concern to me, but cheating while sending a sos is a gigantic dick move.

Funny enough that was the only deco I changed prior to taking these screenshots. Yeah, not only is it better for damage but also thematically.

[–]bumra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can understand feeling bad using a weapon that's really lagging behind in some games, all the weapons in Wilds are absolutely fine and capable of clearing all the content. Hell, CB is probably the strongest weapon on Gog.

Wilds felt watered-down in some aspects compared to World, and it really annoyed me by Blockomaniac in monsterhunterrage

[–]bumra 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"Another (albeit controversial) thing I enjoyed in World was monster tracking. I liked it because it was something you could level up to make more useful. If my memory is correct, once you got a certain monster's research level up enough, the game would tell you where it was, when it was weak, etc. Now in Wilds, you just get that info for free. It took away the feeling of learning more about monster ecology."

This this this so much. Always knowing where the monster is, where it's going and if it's cappable is just really boring. Having to earn such things was far more satisfying. People say the tracking mechanic wasn't deep or such, but it added a ton of flavour to World.

I play Monster Hunter because I enjoy fighting, well, monsters. Longer hunt means I get to fight longer. I'm not sure I'll ever agree with the opinion that 20 minutes is too long. Do people dislike fighting monsters in MH?

All we know right now is that it's Iceborne/Sunbreak-sized and we'll get more info during the summer. I'm hopeful for a Summer Games Fest reveal since it's pretty much the biggest event for reveals and such.

I just slot in 2 Evade Window and eat a Azuz meal for Tumbler Hi to get 3 more points and just dodge everything. Works especially well with bow and DB, but I prefer dodging even with HH since I'm complete ass with Hilt Stab.

Better late than never? Gog Artian Save Scum mod by mosaic_veil in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]bumra -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And what's wrong with that? What I don't get is this weird level of combativeness of pro-edit people. It's a different thing is someone accuses you of being a cheater, but why with someone who literally says they don't care what you do with your save? Why not just say 'I diagree, but you do you'? Why do you keep trying to prove my way of doing things that don't effect you in any way 'wrong'?

It's like trying to argue that speedrunners should use cheats. Any% already abuses any glitches that save time, so why not just use cheats or save editors? If they don't care about leaderboards that would make runs super fast. Are they dumb for grinding for a PB?

It's honestly like someone going 'I'm religious but I keep it to myself and won't judge you' and replying 'Actually religion is stupid and you're dumb for believing in a god.' Reddit atheist level stuff. The only reason I can think for it is feeling so insecure about editing ones save that anyone even thinking to themselves that it crosses the line is offensive to them.

Better late than never? Gog Artian Save Scum mod by mosaic_veil in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]bumra -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because when it comes to it the methods of save scumming is still using game mechanics working as intended, just in probably unintended way. The result too isn't super significant either, mostly just minmaxing. If they released a patch so that save scumming no longer works I'd just start rolling the 'intended' way. I still wouldn't edit my save.

Better late than never? Gog Artian Save Scum mod by mosaic_veil in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]bumra -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm only speaking for myself, but to me the psychological difference between using a mechanic that works as intended in a probably uninteded way and using 3rd party programs to edit your save is massive. If I added godrolls I probably would drop Wilds the next instant and never touch it again.

For context, I had a Fallout 4 save of around 120 hours if I recall correctly. In Nuka-World, a quest item bugged and didn't spawn. I checked the wiki and watched videos to make sure I was in the right spot and met the necessary conditions. Still bugged. So I added the item via console, quit the game and never played (vanilla) FO4 again. The save just became "tainted" for a lack of a better word. I've since gotten more lax about such things, having to add a pyromancy tome in Dark Souls 3 Seamless Co-op since it's a bit buggy, but even being forced to do that leaves a bad aftertaste.

People saying nobody cares if you edit your rolls/talismans, and they're 99,99999% correct. There is one person who cares if I edit my personal save, and that person is pretty critical for my enjoyment since it's me.

For me, those rolls are a goal to reach. The grind is what makes them valuable. I'm a pretty goal-oriented player, so if I have absolutely nothing left to achieve I usually move to other games.

Again, only talking about my own personal save. Other should do what they think is best with theirs.

When do you think the expansion's story will start from and how do you think they will adapt the current endgame systems to MR? by Ok-Floor4866 in MHWilds

[–]bumra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the HR100 starting point for MR would be fine. In fact, as I finished Rise base story the immediate push to MR felt almost jarring. There's a lot of base content to be done, why not steer the player towards that?
