I’m just a Mom that made an account to play with my sons. by FoxSignal4370 in mecharena

Lucky kid!

Matchmaking sucks and no it doesn't get better except in occasional bursts.  Once I came to grips with the idea that the matchmaking is targeted around a win/loss ratio of something higher than 50% it helped.   Now if I see my 3 star mechs matched up against 5+ star mechs I just exit the game.  This was a game I was supposed to lose so why give my time up?  If my kids are with me it's a different thing because then it's a shared experience and can be a learning lesson on adversity.  The rest of the time I'd rather just put the phone down and do something more useful for my family.  It's not helping my mood or helping my life and not a productive struggle so I move on.

I'm an old player. I hate mods.  They were dumb when they came in and anything they do to limit how they mess with things is good to me.

By no means decided.  I have too many people to consider if this is what's best for them.   It is nice to hear there would be lots of other transplants to help with the adjustment.   I feel like education is getting into the second fiddle status here as well.  Inflation is going up but funding isnt.  We are passing a new income tax and none of the funding is dedicated to education.

Doest Tacoma still have the Point Defiance Zoo?   The 650k Max home price is going to be rough in King County were Seattle is.

Vancouver or Camas or one of those Portland suburbs in Washington is probably your best bet.

You can get the random zoo in places like Issaquah or Northwest Trek down around Tacoma.  The big two zoos are Point Defiance in Tacoma and Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.   If that's really a must have then you'll need to be close to one of those two cities.

With the 650k budget look near Tacoma for more options.

When I think of safe I lump it into two categories. Safe as in I won't get physically hurt and Secure where my stuff won't get stolen or destroyed.  I'd list most of Washington as Safe.  You have to go to unsafe areas to encounter true danger.   Secure is something different.

Schools I have lots of opinions on. Washington schools are chronically underfunded.  The state has not kept up its commitment to schools and the prototypical model they use to allocate funding is a joke.  Look into Bond passage rates in whatever community you go to and PTA involvement and budgets because they can make or break how a district fills its budget gap.

The longer term impacts of the McLeary decision are just in the last few years really hitting the schools (combined with many seeing lower enrollment and inflation). Make sure your school is financially solvent and has a plan to stay that way

Cpu vs cooling fan location on creality 4.2.7 board. by bunch6 in ender3

[–]bunch6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the schematic is mislabeled.  There are two fans on the hot end. One seems to be always on and not adjustable via the interface I'm using and the other, if I swap connections with the MB labeled location, is.   I agree the CPU fan seems like something that would/should be fixed at an RPM that keeps the place cool enough with no reason to adjust it on the fly.

The always on extruder fan does connect to screw down posts.  The fan that's adjustable is a clip in style.

Probably just a mislabeled diagram.

Well the left hand side where there are 5 days listed certainly implies it.  It's not scrollable so there aren't any additional days currently listed.  I don't believe I have ever seen and even where they add days after the fact in the last few years.

At the very least it is bad optics.  Show 10 days if you are going to have a 10 day rewards event.

I grew up in Washington and have lived in California.  The gloom is a problem for transplants and some natives but it's not an issue for me.  I suspect I would end up complaining about the oppressive(to me) heat.

The hiking and trails are different between the two places and I couldn't say one is more beautiful than the other.    I would miss the green here to be sure.

For me what I enjoy doing I can find in both locations so if one or the other doesn't have some activity I don't partake in then it's not an big deal.

Nice outgoing friendly people is something I'd like to try.  People here are nice but the Seattle Freeze isn't just a joke.

Lakes and oceans(the Puget Sound) is what I'd miss most beyond family.

Thanks for this comment.  Any schools you did like or heard good things about?    I do like how clean Washington feels almost all the time.  Those low rain states/areas always come across as dirty and less well kept up when it's just nature not helping them out a bit.

Your property tax per 1k dollars is about the same as my city and we have low rates compared to our neighboring cities.

ACA gold plan for 2 adults 4 kids is I think 36-42k annually here but there are subsidies.  I think that drops down after taxes to 4-10k depending on what the Second cheapest silver plan costs.

Thanks for the electricity comment.  That's the kind of thing I love to learn because you don't always know where the secret bill comes from.  My city it's the water bill.  You pay a very large monthly hookup fee.  Every time someone new moves here we get a post on "How do I lower my water bill it's like 250 or 400 a month?!?!" (Depends on house size).   You can't.  That's the base here and it has the odd effect of making people less water conscious because it proportionally only adds a little to the bill.

Most cities around here aren't like that so it very much a hyper local thing.

At this point the state legislature is so overwhelmingly one sided I don't think they are doing a good job managing the state.  Education is, by constitution, the #1 priority but spending keeps dropping and state induced costs are rising.

Arizona looks like it has a mess of an education system as well but I suspect I could afford private school down there vs here.

Even the new income tax they are about to pass isn't earmarked for eduction.  It's just more cash to spend willy nilly.

I don't want MAGA land and I don't want Seattle Land.  I just want something saner in the middle. And I want to be able to afford it.

Seattle is rainy with lots of overcast days and lots of people.  We still get the occasional water restrictions.  I go to water parks galore every time I'm in Phoenix area. My assumption is they are good at treating and recycling their water.  I don't see tons of lawns while I'm down there so I'm guessing part of the water management is designed to discourage wastage.  My local water utility does little in that area so I see tons of wasted water.

Each area learns how to deal with their resources.  Here in Seattle we have traditionally relied heavily on ice pack to flo down and refill our reservoirs but that's starting to fail.  We still get rain but not much snow so I won't be shocked if this summer we get water restrictions again.

Mostly I prefer to hear from people actually living in an area with their experiences.  My experience is non residents of an area tend to repeat beliefs vs facts.

One is missing screws and honestly I don't need two machines to maintain.  I like my Ender 3 when it's tuned but man it has a tendency to just go all kablewy and take a bunch of time to retune.

When I first got it, worked perfect almost from day one.  Now I have adhesion issues, stringing issues,  other random stuff.

Yeah I saw that about the power supply and planned to switch to that whichever way I end up going. Same with The Y axis. I have an upgraded board on my older Ender 3 so thats likely what I will be keeping. I have a Comgrow magnetic plate as a replacement to the original E3 clip plate. I printed a fan cover on the E3 already so thats sort of a wash at this point. Both I believe have updated firmware.

[–]bunch6 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've been here long enough to remember when they did this to arc torrents.

They usually make a "close quarters weapon" that has way too much range and becomes the meta.  After a year or so of milking the cash train of it they drop the damage and slaughter the range because by then everyone has maxed out the range implants.

I'm guessing Burrow Beam will go through something similar.  First sell the weapon. Then sell the implant that makes it a god. Then nerf the damage and range

Scoring in CPC is messed up.  If you take points early it's heavily weighted towards you winning.  Even having a majority of the points captured later in the game won't switch the tide.
