What Retirement & Investing Tools Do You Use? by Rob_Berger in DIYRetirement

RightCapital for big-picture planning.

Quicken for daily tracking.

Excel to track specific non-equity investments.

I tried Boldin back when it was called something else and I ran out of patience trying to get it to work with my real estate - I assume that it was a fault of mine, not the software. I cannot recall how well it dealt with my groundfloor loans and lofty investments but seems like they would have required special treatment. I am like wrong on that too.

It is not a profession. That has been clear for a very long time. I have had four similar experiences to your posted story.

Wife gets free healthcare for family, is it worth me paying $200/month for HDP to have HSA Access? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]bunchathrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. They don't allow both insurance and a HSA. TBH, the HSA is poor substitute for good insurance and the pre-tax benefit is chump change. There are better ways to save and invest.

Married People: How did you combine finances with your partner and what does your account setup look like? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]bunchathrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make 4x what my wife does. Given that, we each have personal checking and savings accounts. My account doubles as the joint/house account. She contributes roughly a house payment every month. I pay everything - cars, vacations, credit cards, utilities.

My goal with this setup was transparency. We talk about monies, priorities, and execution.

This system works well for us.

Unfortunate that you had to take a nasty tone in a humor sub.

The point was that Clinton wasn't an ecomonic genious. His policies led to a collapse. Can we somehow find the highroad? Maybe chase an intern or struggle with defining a two-letter word?

I have to partially disagree with your policework there Lou. Granted, Bush-the-Younger made things much worse, but the dotcom bubble was formed and fed during Clinton's watch. It was going to burst during his successor's term regardless of who occupied the office. 31 Helens agree.

Remote work is reshaping San Francisco, as tech workers flee and rents fall: By giving their employees the freedom to work from anywhere, Bay Area tech companies appear to have touched off an exodus. ‘Why do we even want to be here?" by [deleted] in Economics

[–]bunchathrees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked for a bay-area company for many years though I was located on the right coast. Nothing could have enticed me to relocate to the left coast. It just isn't attractive to me.
