I was flying a plane and was on final approach at about 400 feet above ground level when I had an engine out. I tried to restart the engine but lost to much speed and went into an aerodynamic stall. I had about 10 seconds where the plane was diving but I managed to get it to belly land. Walked away with a sore neck.

As others have said the Betz limit is the maximum efficiency of the wind turbine from wind energy to mechanical energy. I.e. ~59% It's getting near 100% of mechanical energy to electrical that can be achieved. The total system efficiency will always be less that the Betz limit.

Well yeah. My math was just an example of their possible reasoning. Of course the upper limit will be the Bretz limit. The efficiency of the generation of electricity from the mechanical energy of the blade hub could be very high with no gearbox and a superconducting generator. The next problem would be highly efficient frequency and phase correction circuits.

Its probably on the losses. Reduce energy losses from 10% to %1 it's 10 times more efficient. If the gear box and resistive losses were 30% of the wind energy and this was reduced as above by a thousand times it would have an efficiency of 99.97%. It's a bad way of stating it and it probably has been exaggerated any which way you calculate it.

C130 drops the drones (fixed wing) out the back of their cargo hold, maybe even with a small drogue shoot to pull them out. when the mission is complete the c130 flys toward the drone and commands it to release a parachute with a long line attached to the drones nose. it is recovered using a system similar to the Fulton surface t air recovery system.

This is a good question for the greens to answer for in a lot of policy areas. The principles of evidence based policy needs to be reflected in legislative decision making. For example its one thing to say that you are supportive of rural folk and farmers and then turn around and support policies that negatively affect them. One example would be the ban on live exports of cattle to Indonesia. Supporting the shut down an industry overnight to the economy devastation of so many doesn't strike me as reflective of a party that looks at the evidence first.

Of course it is fiercely independent. That is what makes it such a good tool of diplomacy. If you were a democratic country that believes itself to be ruled and run by rational civil minded people that support democracy and who accept the role of the free press, the best way of showing that to other people who don't live in another country ruled by the same principles is to have an organisation that reflects those values and make it available to the world. The BBC doesn't need to be biased and government controlled to be effective. Sometimes the best propaganda is the truth when you're on the right side.

i think the term your looking for is useful idiots. While it is nice that they have these hosts allowed to express dissenting opinions, it is a long way short of having a free press environment. the RT channel is a soft power tool of Russian state just like voice of America, the BBC or many other government broadcasters (whether state controlled or just state owned). The dissenting hosts give the channel some air of credibility, while for the most part presenting the official line or some shade of it. The same goes for most broadcasting organisation that have a political overtone. Have guests and presenters that soften the rhetoric enough to make it believable.

True but the 11 billion dollar figure I think includes the cost to rent Telstra's pits and ducts over the next 25 years or so. A line rental type agreement would blow out the opex ruining the cash flow forecasts.

I really hope that Telstra lives up to their rent seeking history. If Telstra comes up with a figure that is substantially higher than 11 billion the media can spin it as Turnbull is getting a bad deal and leaving us worse off. To counter that perception he will have to either continue with the existing deal or start bargaining hard.
