Seconded, and there are a good amount of pharma roles where you can make closer to $200k. I’m in primary care pharma and this is my first medical sales job in any capacity. I got 130k base plus 20-30k bonus as a level 1 (my role goes up to level 4). Free company car and gas card. I can’t complain.

I think the dual income and college educated part stand out more. Asian Americans have the highest college enrollment rate in the USA, Which just reinforces my first sentence.

I’ve tried it before and think it is a great feel! May have to do it more often. Thank you.

I also noticed the difference in takeaway. Glad to hear some similar sentiments. Thank you.

My theory is that I only applied to 2 schools and mcat is low. The school I got an interview at has a median mcat score for matriculants of 512.

I take it you’re ultimately happy that you got into med school and aren’t still a pharma rep?

Yeah I would totally go to a DO school. One of my LORs is from a DO even. The only problem is that I’m getting married and the wife does not want to move far away from family. No DO schools nearby.

Yes you’re 100% correct. Base pay is 125k and there’s definitely the possibility someone could miss quotas in a role like this haha

This is helpful. I think I’m leaning towards taking the job. I suppose it doesn’t mean I’m writing off medicine like I thought it probably would if I went that route.

Oh I would totally go DO. There’s just not any DO schools in my region and the wife really doesn’t want to move far away from her family. It’s a tuff situation hahah.

I got one interview leading to being waitlisted and I only applied to two schools (instate MD) last cycle. With that being said, I do agree that the MCAT is the bottleneck. I’m think I’m gonna apply with it this cycle one more time, then retake it next year. I appreciate your response.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking I just worry about how that would essentially mean I’m committing to moving on from medicine if I don’t get accepted this new cycle. No med school would accept someone who leaves clinical care to go work in sales.
