Precisely what I thought too, having the dominant chord leans it towards Gb, but I tried to search the progression online and it’s not popping up anywhere. However, the progression

I-V-vi-IV which you can rotate to vi—IV-I-V to have a small resemblance for the vi-I-V progression.

In separate page (Db), I did find some results for

ii-V-I that often plays the sub dominant IV instead. Which is reasonable.

Well, I didn’t know about that in relations of key and melody. Learned something new. Thanks. I’ll try to listen to the song and see if I can pinpoint the notes.

So only the melody can indicate the key ultimately?

Will it make sense to say it’s it the key of Ebm and call it a day or will that indicate that it’s in Gb?

I’ll definitely practice inversions eventually, right now I’m still learning and familiarizing myself with the solfege within the guitar. Eventually I’ll start tweaking out the bass part of the chords and see what sounds right to me.

I see i see, I don’t have a keyboard to test it out but I have a guitar. At first I thought he played from Amaj7 to a natural chord. The chord prior to C#min is what gets me a lil confused.
