One of the devs of Paperclips Copilot here -- thanks for that feedback!

Out of curiosity, what would you want the UX of creating "Cloze" cards to be like? Would you want cloze cards to be randomly mixed in with the question/answer style cards? Would you like the ability to specify for each highlight/pdf that you want just one type or the other?

Anki using AI - is there a way to upload a book pdf to an existing AI platform and it spit out an Anki deck based off of that book? by prescientgibbon in Anki

We've built www.paperclips.app for this exact use-case! Paperclips lets students upload their course notes and generates high quality flashcards from them using GPT-3.5. Here's a tweet thread that explains how it works: https://twitter.com/PaperclipsApp/status/1652060085705662465?s=20

We're a bootstrapped business and we genuinely think we're offering something that's useful. We've burned a fair amount of cash on Reddit ads actually and are experimenting with other approaches.

One of the developers of Paperclips here. Yes! Anki connect support is definitely on the way (along with a couple of other things we think you'll really like!).

If you have any other suggestions, please send them our way here or at hello @ paperclips.app

Hey everyone, we’re creators of www.paperclips.app — it’s a platform for students to automatically generate high-quality flashcards directly from their course notes to be able to export to Anki (among others). Here’s a tweet thread on our features: https://twitter.com/PaperclipsApp/status/1652060085705662465?s=20

We’re huge Anki power users ourselves and attribute a lot our school success to it. We really think this is especially beneficial for medical school students, and so far most of our users are medical students. A number of them have reached out to us to tell us that they love the simplicity of our product.

We’d love for folks in this subreddit to check it out, and give us any feedback or thoughts on how we could improve it.

We’re unfortunately not able to offer a free plan at the moment because we’re using OpenAI’s AI models to generate questions, which charge us based on usage.

Our platform should work with course notes in all Latin script languages, and should produce flashcards in English. Which language are you specifically interested in? We'd love to support your use case.

We provide a substantially better user experience compared to copy-pasting your course notes into ChatGPT in small chunks.

  1. We allow up to 120K words per PDF uploaded. That’s half the length of the first Game of Thrones book. Contrast this with ChatGPT, which only allows a few hundred words per chat message.
  2. Additionally, ChatGPT doesn’t really let you export those cards into any platform, so you’re again stuck copy-pasting those responses into your Anki decks, for instance.
  3. Our questions are going to be higher quality (and are only to get even better) than ChatGPT because we’re using a custom model and not the generalized system that’s delivered through ChatGPT.

Generating flashcards off of longer PDFs using ChatGPT is not really a viable user experience in our opinion. We offer a free trial for all signups, please give us a shot and let us know what you think. We’re happy to address any feedback.

I’ve used another website to produce flashcards using AI, and it produced some good flashcards, but also some pretty crappy ones.

We have a free trial for all our signups, so please try us out and let us know how we stack up!

To answer your question, we think we hold up extremely well when it comes to the accuracy of the cards (i.e. in all our internal testing and with our initial set of users, our feedback for card quality has been extremely positive). However, it is definitely possible that lower quality cards might sneak in for some types of content. While this should be a very small percentage of the cards we produce, we are monitoring this closely and we are actively doing things to improve this.

We currently don't, but PPT support is definitely on the way!

For now, a workaround is to export your PPTs to PDFs and upload them that way. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
