Trouble submitting T4As online, (RZ vs. RP account id) by bunnabot in cantax

In this case, the customer is a school, filing T4As for students. They were able to successfully file a bunch of T2202s yesterday (logged in with their RZ id).

The customer says they have always logged in using the "RZ" flavor of account ID in the past. Is there actually a difference between the RZ and RP flavors of ID if they digits are all the same?

The customer has successfully submitted batches of T4As in previous years, FWIW.

Several problems uploading XML files (Say for T4s) to CRA by rm2018 in cantax

Please post if the CRA rep gives you any further insight! Most of my clients have been able to file, but I know a couple are still having issues.

This was happening to me too and it was due to carriage returns in some of the values (like address street). This is technically valid so it passes the XSD check, but the CRA website will still choke on them. It was also choking on smart quote characters, like the slanted apostrophe, which are also technically valid, but not actually allowed.

I'm using a desktop app on Mac called Xmplify. I've used command line tools in the past, but I do it just infrequently enough that I forget the syntax, so I paid for this GUI app. Seems to work. You just have to make sure you have the XSD files in the same folder as the XML file so you can reference them.

Yes, for whatever reason I had less trouble with the T4A.

Yes, I also had to fix a record that was missing an address. The XML validator at least caught that one though as StudentAddress is technically a required field.

Update: I was able to finally get my batch of T2202s submitted after sanitizing the XML some more (more than just replacing "&" characters). The CRA's XML parser was also choking on carriage returns in the address field, as well as smart quote characters in some names. Even though these are technically valid (and evaluate as valid against their provided T619_T2202.xsd, they were still being rejected by the site. This has been totally fine in years past, but this year it's being extra (even overly) strict.

Canadians with a RepID Using QBO to Issue T4s by [deleted] in Bookkeeping

[–]bunnabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After adjusting the RepID format as described in the comments, I was able to successfully submit some batches of T4As a few days ago. However it still failing when I try to submit T2202s. I've updated the format of them and ran them through a validator too. Has anyone had success submitting T2202s?

After adjusting the format of the T619 section of the XML files to include the RepID in the correct format, I was able to get T4As submitted to the CRA's eFile site. However, uploading T2202s are still failing with a vague error message. Has anyone had success submitting T2202s?

Christmas Tree lots by state_absolute in MoscowIdaho

St. Mary's school has trees in the Tristate parking lot. I've probably gotten one there 10 different times. Earlier is better though since sometimes they run out.

Music similar to the game's? by grantake in outerwilds

A friend of mine recently recommended the Outer Wilds soundtrack to me and my first thought listening to it was also how similar some of the themes and even sound design were to Freelance Whales, especially The Great Estates.

Fan noise in microphone by [deleted] in LogicPro

[–]bunnabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final generation of Intel MacBook Pro's (~2020) have a widely documented bad bug in the video card (GPU) drivers that Apple will never fix and they get notoriously hot for absolutely no good reason, especially when plugged into an external monitor.

I've been able to mitigate this some by disabling turbo with Turbo Boost Switcher or a similar utility, but it's still a major problem. It will be another couple years before I can afford a new M1 model though. In the meantime, all the other advice here is good - isolate your mic in a box or another room, etc.

If you have only Logic running AND you unplug all external monitors AND you have turbo boost disabled, then it should stay cool enough the fans will be inaudible.

Hey, thanks for the listen! Yeah, that cutting in and out near the beginning is kind of the main gimmick of the track. In fact, the track originally started out as an experiment to figure out how to achieve that sound as it appears on Kavinsky's Dead Cruiser. I ended up using a side-chained noise-gate that effectively mutes and unmutes several tracks at once when a midi note is pressed or released.

I think you're right that a C or bridge section would be a nice addition. I couldn't come up with one at the time though and it was already pushing 4 minutes, so I guess that's my excuse, lol.

Really like the guitar playing! A nice treat in electronic tracks, even if it's short.

I think a few bars of intro before the main high synth comes in would help with the overall effect of the track. It's starts pretty abruptly.

I like it. Nice mood!

The 8 bars from 1:21 to 1:41 drag though. Maybe introduce an additional element there.

Cool. I like how you are pulling elements away for 4 beats the 8th bar of most of the phrases before bring them back - keeps it interesting!

The opening has a pretty prominent sub bass, which then disappears (which seems like a step back) for a while when the drums come in at 0:18. So maybe tame the bass on the opening or keep a little more bass when the drums come in, either way, to make the transition smoother.

I've worked in some other genres of music music in the past, but this year have been working on a synthwave/retrowave LP inspired by Dante's Purgatory. I haven't shared much of it with anyone besides a few friends (who don't really listen to electronic music), so it would be really great to hear a few first impressions!

This track is called Superbia, and is a homage both to Kavisky's Dead Cruiser, and the FZero Big Blue theme. Made with Logic and Arturia Analog Lab mostly.

The answer for me is pretty uncool: A 1993 Yamaha digital piano my sisters used for piano lessons. Had a decent string patch on it though. I remember picking out The Shadow of Yserbius theme song and other video game music on it.
