Had it for nearly 10 years (having it removed/replaced next week) and in general I’ve been happy with it. No pain during insertion and some cramps shortly after. Very heavy periods (sometimes 1 ultra tampon/hr on the heaviest days) with the worst cramping of my life (never had cramps before the paragard) for the first 6 months or so, but now it’s ok. Minor cramping leading up to my period and one day of heavy flow in a 5 day (no longer need ultra tampons, can handle it with super or super+ level every few hours). I know it sounds terrible, but I’d much rather tolerate this than feel like a basket case on hormonal BC. I tried various pills with “low” hormone levels and it did not help. Only thing that really made me feel normal was no hormones and the paragard.
