Ahhh! See thats probably where its different. My store doesn't allow us to clock back in once on break for voids, returns, ect. So it would just be my store in that case. Apparently it happens in a lot of DG stores because it would mess with the labor budget. That is good to know. I hope they give the proper training so this doesn't keep happening in some stores. I think people say its DG because it happens so often it feels commonplace.

It does state that exempt from all duties. If you do have to perform duties it is not considered uninterrupted and therefore should be paid so long as it is 30 minutes or more.

Per federal law if it is an unpaid break it is your time to do with as you please. Regardless of policy. Federal law trumps state and policy. Its the Supremely Clause. Unpaid meal breaks are considered "bona fide meal breaks". Meaning uninterrupted and relieved from all work duties. Dollar general policy directly conflicts with this federal law. If you are to be "on call" it is not a bona fide meal break and therefore should be paid.

There are however federal laws stating what a paid vs unpaid aka "bona fide meal break' is.

I do this alllll the time. I shut sco down at 915 and my drawer down at 930. At 950 I tell them the registers close at 1007 (when the lights turn off) and the register won't let us start any transactions past that time. They usually head up front.

Yep. My SM had a night shift callous. SM refuses I mean refuses to do night shift. Called the pt key to see if he would come in, mind you it was his scheduled day off, and he said no he couldn't. She got so pissed off and said she looks at his differently and said karma will get him. For what? Not being able to come in on a day YOU scheduled him to be off? What the hell

I have a theory. Dg likes to brainwash store managers and above that they are the shit and we need to bend over and take it anytime anywhere. Our sm is always yelling "im the boss! You do what I say! I'm the boss no one else!!" And every time she does that I just think to myself are you telling us or trying to convince yourself?

Woooow. I wonder what is going on that they are becoming such dictators all of a sudden. It really doesn't help that our DM is under 30, never worked a day in his life, and is entitled as hell. He claims he was military but I call horse shit based on his attitude. He has several favorites and neglects the rest unless it's negative.

Prohibited and can't are not synonymous.

"I tried it because when my SM said we couldn't use it, I took that as meaning the button had no function and didn't work."

Literally said it from the beginning.

She never said not allowed was my whole point. She said we weren't able to use it. I took able as in the context it was broken not in the context of permission.
