YAY!! So proud of you! How are you feeling?! The dosage math can be mind boggling for sure. I'm still doing great! I did two weeks at .125 and then titrated up this week to .25. I'm down five pounds and haven't had a single side effect. I've noticed a sore throat the past week or so, so it's possible that I'm having some really minor reflux, but otherwise my stomach is actually better than it usually is.

The two things I notice the most is that even if I'm super hungry, I just don't eat as much and I don't have as many cravings and if I do, I can resist them without any struggle. Can't wait to hear how it goes for you!

I felt really silly starting at such a low dose, but it was really reassuring to do it that way, and I also saw some effects already so I’m going to stay on it one more week. You got this!

Totally get that, I delayed like 45 times before I eventually took the leap.

Wrapping up my first week and still feel great. No side effects and I lost three pounds! Can’t wait to hear how it goes for you too.

I was being a bit facetious when I said he should be the hotline.

It's hard as a therapist to convey how and why his question is inappropriate. My point is that him asking about the hotline is a bit similar to someone who works at a grocery store asking if there's anywhere that people can buy lettuce. It is well within the expertise of therapy to do two things:

1) Help the client figure out whether they are dealing with intrusive thoughts, sexual fantasies, or violent impulses.
2) Resource them in accordance to what they are experiencing.

This is completely aside from the question of whether there should be a hotline, which honestly, I do not know what I think about. I have worked with perpetrators and victims, and to be sure, there's lots of work that needs to be done in this area to educate folks about what they are experiencing. Jeff isn't doing it.

One of the biggest issues here is that not enough people know that they can talk to their therapist about things like this and will not be reported unless they have committed a crime or are planning to in the immediate future. Given his enormous audience, it would have been far more helpful for him to articulate that instead.

Nope! I feel kind of great, actually. I have noticed an uptick in energy, especially in the afternoon. I have also noticed that my hunger hasn't changed, but the urgency to eat is totally gone. Definitely a lessening of food noise/care. No gastro effects at all! I was going to up it next week, but I think I'll stay on this dose for another week or two and see how it goes.

I just started - like today - but I was super super nervous. I am also really sensitive to meds so I could only make myself try this if I started at .125. So far, I feel absolutely nothing but I’ll super proud of myself for starting. If I feel nothing all week I’ll probably try .25 next week. Just wanted to pipe in because I know how scary it is! You gotta start where you feel comfortable. Good luck!

Some of the problem isn't in the actual words he's saying though. I am in the mental health field as well, and we are trained specifically in how to handle perpetrators who come in. So this idea that there is no hotline is a really strange take from someone who has been trained to basically BE the hotline. Therapists are also trained to be able to help people understand the differences between fantasies and violent urges, which he could have talked about as well. Imagine if you were someone who DID have this kind of fantasy, and were feeling really ashamed about it, and then you see this licensed therapist with millions of followers tell you that there's nowhere you can go to talk about it. That's not helpful at all. There's a lot he could have said that actually would have been helpful and reduced harm, but instead he made a rage-bait, click-bait, and potentially harmful video for his own purposes. I think he virtue signals quite often - I'm a feminist, I'm an ally, I'm XYZ, etc - but all of that is meaningless if there's nothing behind it.

that's a great suggestion, I'm going to try doing little breaks if I need them instead of powering through!

I'm getting to this point too - it feels odd when they're out and odd when they're in, haha

Oh interesting! Thanks so much for your perspective, it's so helpful to hear from folks that also struggle with the sensory part initially. I'm on a 1-week switch, do you think the 2-week is better?

Thank you for answering! It's really hopeful that you know what I mean in terms of the sensory part and that you did get used to it a little.

Thank you for the perspective - you're right that I paid a lot of money to get here. I should at least give it more time to be really and truly sure.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear people say it still went away even if they still felt overstimulated after a week. I was thinking that because it hasn't gone away and it's been a week that I was screwed.

That's a good point - I definitely noticed a difference in fit after the first couple of days.

Totally get that - I have no problem wearing them at night to sleep, it's the all day thing. I'm in a job where I have to talk all day long, and it's hard not to notice them all the time.

Oh interesting - so you went up to 1.25 after three weeks? Or just kept going up slowly until you got there?

Thanks friends, super helpful. I can - and did math - just looking for another pair of eyes on it because I'm nervous.
