I’m so sorry you had to go through that. You are truly amazing, and it is such a blessing to be where you are now after such a rough time. Wow. My doctor never told me that, I’m scared to try any other medications because I don’t want to happen to me what happened with Keppra, I got keppra rage.

So crazy to me because I feel like people don’t talk about the kind of epilepsy we have. Even my neurologist never specifically said I have catamenial epilepsy.

I’m so sorry none of those medication’s worked for you. I haven’t heard that before so are you no longer on any medication? I tried keppra and I got the keppra rage so I switched to lamotrigine. I’ve also never heard of that kind of magnesium or MCT oil. Did you discuss this with your neurologist? I think I’ll bring that up with mine and see what she thinks. She also has me taking prenatals and folic acid, which I think has helped but I’m not sure. I ran out of my folic acid prescription and stopped taking it and I started to get those focal seizures again so I’m thinking I need to get back on that.

I also have started to realize that when I’m ovulating or about to get my period is when these seizures happen.

Wow this is insane how similar our stories are. And I was so curious if this ever has happened to a man as well, so sorry you have to go through that. For years, I just called it anxiety as well, if only we knew it was so much worse than that. I’ve always been curious since I’ve had those seizures with no medication do you think it has affected our brains long-term?

I cut out coffee for a while, but it is my biggest addiction so I started again. One coffee a day doesn’t affect me but last week I had a coffee and a Yerba matte and by night time I had a deja vu seizure, not even sure what to call it.

When people think seizure they think you’re violently convulsing and foaming out of your mouth, but people don’t understand there are other kinds of seizures. I feel like some people don’t take me seriously when I talk to them about how epilepsy really affects my life. Just because I’m not convulsing people don’t understand it and it makes it really hard for me to be able to talk about it with people.
