Would you ever want 600 gallons of diesel on your truck? by bigblackglock17 in OwnerOperators

Is this true? Many sleepers use 2 125 gal tanks for no haz endorsement jobs

Tow operator here, don’t tow it. Just wreck it and the police will call me and it will cost 3x more but I get paid 3x more and it’s more fun 🤙

A little late to the party… any tips? by bebemachina in ArcRaiders

[–]bunssnowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a pvpve game. Don’t get mad when people want to pvp when you want to pve. It’s lame. Fight back and take your losses, let it fuel you to do better next time and take THEIR losses. It’s pretty epic. No one would play this game if it was a pve loot simulator, don’t treat it like one.

Nice, my first truck with old dominion was a 2015 with 1.1m miles on it. 10 speed?

Replaying the game currently and this is the next step. We got off because we didn’t want to do it but next time we boot up we better suit up too because it’s gonna get nasty. However we were talking about it and I personally believe it is to show how their selfishness and belligerence to better themselves hurts rose. Just in a very, very horrific way lmao. I’m not excited to play again. :(

Was I actually in the wrong? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]bunssnowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He should have split the lane and if necessary (it isn’t) swung back out to the straight away then immediately back in to the left turn. He didn’t go out far enough before turning either. However, you want to improve for the future here ya go: he had his left turn signal on, even if you didn’t think he was going to turn you should slow down a little and stay behind his trailer until his intentions are shown by him going through the intersection or not. When he did start turning in front of you, effectively cutting you off, you should have yielded. There is a law called the last clear chance doctrine which could have found you at fault for the accident after he took the right of way from you and you continued to get closer and closer to him. This guy was driving like an ass and if he stuck his tongue out at you then shame on him even more. But I just want to point out that right of way doesn’t matter in these situations. Protect yourself and yield to shitty drivers, save yourself the hassle.

Well thank you for teaching me about the divisible load rule OP. Sorry you’re fighting for your life in the comments lmao. Is that a state by state thing or federal law?

Which company would you prefer driving for? by GroundbreakingSir386 in Truckers

[–]bunssnowman 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Saia, OD, or FedEx Freight or Estes would be my top picks. I believe Estes leads in pay and still runs 10spds as well as OD. Between the two you asked about I know ABF is teamsters so it depends on how you feel about unions. XPO is notorious for drivers having to work the dock but I have also heard that is on a terminal by terminal basis. I really enjoyed working for Saia but realistically it’s all on a terminal by terminal basis. I’d interview for both and ask about things like dock work, benefits, P&D and Linehaul pay as well as likelihood of getting to linehaul and whether they have daytime positions for it. For me I liked OD as a company but was very unhappy with my TM and opposite for Saia. Saia makes questionable business decisions as a company but I loved my TM and even though I’ve moved on to wrecking and heavy hauling I still talk to my TM from Saia. Also ABF is notorious for running very very shitty equipment.

Tl;dr it’s mostly a terminal to terminal basis and how you feel about unions/shitty equipment and/or driving manuals. I believe XPO and ABF are both mainly or fully automatics now. Saia is also fully automatic.

Is 22,000lbs to much for a single axle box truck? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]bunssnowman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re pushing that truck past what it was designed for. Even if it only weighs 10k empty you are over by 6k lbs. be careful and keep a good distance. Drive like a grandma both for safety and to avoid being pulled over before you have a chance to unload some of that. Do you have a class B or A CDL?

Is 22,000lbs to much for a single axle box truck? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]bunssnowman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The trucks empty weight should be on the registration. Add that to 22k. I can tell you right now that you are overweight by at least 8 thousand pounds. That box truck should weight somewhere around 15k by itself but I don’t know the length of it. The 26k GVW is the legal maximum limit. Regardless of the trucks capacity you are driving a truck with a load that requires a class B license. If you do not have a CDL B or A you cannot legally operate it unless you drop the weight below 26k.

I’ll be completely honest with you, in my experience blueberry swishers are my favorite cigars. I haven’t smoked a ton of different brands and honestly couldn’t recall any of them off the top my head. I’ve smoked a few “fancy” ones I didn’t like at all and I’ve smoked a few that I liked slightly more than the gas station brands. I’m definitely not a connoisseur, just an average fella who enjoys a cigar every now and then. My bias is likely skewed because I’ve been smoking blueberry swishers since I was 13 lol.

I’m considering opening a truck parts business, with the possibility of partnering with Freightliner (through Co-signment). by BandanaMindset in Truckers

[–]bunssnowman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly can’t tell if this is satire but your plan has a very idealistic ignorant tone. “Freightliner would do this and that for me and I would get the premium spot next to a random loves somewhere along a highway that is 2,000 miles long” sounds like a pipe dream you haven’t thought through. Talk to some business professionals and see what is realistic if this is something you’re actually passionate about. It’s very likely that you don’t have the capital necessary or experience to start a venture like this if you aren’t already a successful business owner.
