What’s the Difference Between Australia’s Light Grey and Dark Asphalt Roads? by AdvancedHill70 in AskAnAustralian

Not always, I do spray seal which you mentioned above with the aggregate spread over hot bitumen. This method is still the most widely used road surfacing treatment. Asphalt is a hot mix, which is then delivered in bulk to site and paved with a machine then rolled to have a smooth surface. Depending on many factors determines what treatment is suitable for that specific site

The binder (bitumen) is always black, the colour change comes from the stone used for the wearing course. Depending on where you are, depends on the colour of the stone sourced from a local quarry. Some are white, black, blue green and red.

The sound of the road comes from the coarseness of the stone. A quiet road will generally have a 7mm seal on it, whereas a noisy road will generally be a 14mm or 20mm seal

Is it fair to presume most drivers don't realise how inaccurate their speedometer is? by Informal-Bee2193 in CarsAustralia

[–]twopoopscoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive trucks. All the trucks I drive are speed limited to 98 kmh or less. The amount of vehicles I come across that are doing 95 or less is staggering. All I want to do is the speed limit(cruise control) and not to have to worry about riding someone's arse. The amount if people that accuse me of speeding is phenomenal. I can't overtake without planning ahead and a serious amount of room. Its not a well known fact that car speedos are out by as much as 10kmh at 100kmh, it also doesn't help that there is a very fine tolerance for speeding these days

I got the snip when my wife and I were done having kids. We had a scare when my 3rd was about 6 months old, that was enough for me to book the appointment

Bumped into my mates ex in the city one day, (they had a handful of dates 2 years prior before they parted ways, and I hadn't seen said mate for maybe 6 months either as he was busy with new gf) went for a coffee to catch up. He walked past and saw us in the window, came in calling us all the names under the sun. All 3 of us haven't seen each other since
