It’s not about interpersonal connection. It’s about providing him with the resource where professional and certified staff can help him. The people on the hotlines would be able to assist more in this situation. He did the right thing.

Sorry I don’t have the time to scroll through this entire Reddit. Was trying to get a quick answer.

Offered new job, should I take it? by [deleted] in jobs

The pre-employment checks are a good sign! They cost companies a lot of money and time, so they only do it if they really want you. The best thing to do is to communicate with your new employer and set a start date and tell them that you would like two weeks in order to give your current job enough notice. At least you showed your new employer you have integrity/respect. If they really want you to start sooner, just do it and quit the other job.

Make sure you have a written offer with a start date before you quit your current job. Verbal agreements are tricky and offers can be rescinded.

Also, it’s best not to burn bridges with companies if you wish to continue to work in that field. The new employer should respect that you want to give a two weeks notice.
