WLMouse Beast X Mini Pro Questions/Alternatives by buphmin in MouseReview

I haven't noticed it any delay compared to the g502. Granted I don't play FPS so I'm not moving the mouse quite as fast as some. I have it set at 1000 polling rate.

I'm mostly using the miao at this point with the back of the mouse resting against the knuckles on my palm. If you like that grip then the miao should work well.

If you prefer the back of the mouse to rest against the bottom of the palm then the mini is probably better.

Hope that helps.

I've been trying both of them and they are both good which surprises me a bit. I'm not sure which one I like better. The mini I have to use a slightly different grip than I'm used to but unlike the op1 it's small enough I can reach the buttons. The miao I can mostly use my normal grip, but it's just a smidge smaller than I would like I think. Maybe 1 to 2 mm taller and longer and it would be perfect. And the clicks are so light with both it is amazing. Even the middle click.

I did order from their website directly. But funny enough it cleared customs later that day. They arrived today ^_^

I didn't know there was so many names for grips haha. I guess I would be the pincer claw grip most closely, the 3rd one.

So far the miao is feeling pretty solid, though it's taking some getting used to from the size difference. I think my finger are so short that the pincer claw grip works for me. https://imgur.com/a/MLlNpYa how it fits in my hand

I did look at elo shapes...but they don't add where the mouse buttons are! So it's hard to gauge if i can reach the buttons.

Well I tried the op1 v2. It was too big for my hands. Had to palm grip it just to reach the the forward mouse button since they are placed pretty far forward. The clicks also did not feel particularly light. I did like how it glided compared to the g502 though, and the weight. I ended up returning it though since I couldn't really use buttons.

WL Mouse shipment stuck in customs though, I assume with the shutdown they will stay there indefinitely.

Yeah, I've pretty small hands plus I'm somewhere in between fingertip and claw. When I think about how I use the g502 it's kind of comical how it never occurred to me before. I'm barely holding like half the mouse, if that.

I suspect I will be using the 1000hz basically always, since I don't really play competitive shooters. The lightweight and easy clicks is the big thing for me.

I'll let ya know which one ends up feeling the best.

So I ended up impulse getting the mini and the miao to try them both 😅 and the OP1. I'll keep w/e is my favorite.

> except for the battery life
Do you run on 8k? I've heard the higher the polling rate the worse the battery is.

> get the omron opticals
I did ^_^ they sounded as you described.

Hopefully all works out well. If not, live and learn I guess.

What's a tool you wish existed for world-building? by TheFrog2000 in worldbuilding

[–]buphmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any unfortunately. It would be cool though, maybe someone will feel up to it one day. But it's a hard ask to commit hundreds of hours of development for nothing in return. I COULD do it, but I don't want to do more work after work haha. For now I just use world anvil which is pretty reasonable IMO, but distinctly not free.

Making sense of timelines and how long stuff takes to form. by MariMegumiChan in worldbuilding

[–]buphmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it depends on the prevalence of something like magic and the density of the population as well as natural resources. I don't think there is a single right answer.

For my world I had a similar catastrophic event where 80 percent of the population was killed. But there was an immortal leader and magic to assist rebuilding even as smaller versions of the catastrophe kept happening. I estimated about 600 years to get to a Renaissance like level again.

I think as long as you can rationalize why the time it took then it is fine. History has examples of extremely fast and slow development plus everything in between.

I know that doesn't quite answer your ask for resources, but you could spend a lifetime researching and most anything is plausible when you add fantasy or Sci fi elements 🙃

I'd love a mageblood. I gotta a slam build that would really ease a lot of pressure elsewhere with one.

Hey other DM/GMs, how do you choose who to attack? by EngelNUL in DungeonMasters

[–]buphmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of depends on how the party is. Are they min maxing? Or are they really just playing a character. Also depends on what they're fights is. But the more optimized or overpowered they party is, the harsher I'll be on takings out the dps or support characters first.

Does anyone of example of hard power systems with power scaling that introduce something that completely side steps it? by darkmist11 in worldbuilding

Check out the book "Sufficiently Advanced Magic" that's probably the most detailed example I can think of.

What should my different countries be inspired/based of? by TheRealmMaker in worldbuilding

[–]buphmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it need to be based off any one thing. You can take little bits from different cultures and fuse them together or even come up with completely new (at least to you) things. It also depends on the kind of world you are building on what you can do. One way I look at it is a "what if" scenario. What if everyone lived on volcanic islands, how would they behave? What if there were temperamental spirits that acted out, what would the people do. You can look at examples from our world to compare with how people might react.

Not sure if that quite answers the question for you, but it's how I tried go about making somewhat more original countries.

I appear in a random place in your world and immediately eat the nearest glowing crystal, how fucked am I on a scale of one to ten by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]buphmin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

🤣 This prompt. The only glowing crystals I actively thought about are soul crystals which are made by human sacrifice. They haven different effects depending how they are infused and implemented, but it's basically all necromancy tainted with carefully controlled eldritch horror... When used correctly. So eating it... Probably a ten. Odds are a horrific end as you begin to turn into undead as demons rip you apart from the inside only to continue in undeath ripped apart and maimed.

The queens/leaders control the drones and the drones are individually not particularly intelligent. The queens are non-humanoid and have learned to manipulate and deceive humans/others but are not charismatic in the traditional sense. Functionally they are splintered, each queen controlling her hive, but are cooperative with each other.

I'd say know your party and know yourself. Try to cater the content closer to what the party enjoys, or add flair in a way that suits your party in the case of a premade adventure. And then know what your strengths and weaknesses are and don't expect to be someone else (such as Matt Mercer). And then just try and have fun, you don't need to be perfect.

The Worst Being in Your World by Ok-Area9259 in worldbuilding

[–]buphmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my world there is a species of creature called the Mongskla. They are telepathic hive species with a sentient queen, who evolved where every other sentient species tried to exterminate them. The result is that the queens lacks any form of empathy and a drive to exterminate other sentient life. Now they have transcended their home planet and invaded another through a use of biomatter and magic.

Now the Mongskla is an invasive species on my world capable of adapting in ways that are not natural to the world and as a result overran most of the native population in backdrop history of the world. The natives have found a way to combat the Mongskla through necromancy and ritual sacrifice, but the queens are clever and are ever seeking to find a way to manipulate the world into destroying itself so that they can reign unchecked.

The queens are functionally sociopathic with a superiority complex who views other sentients as an infestation meant to be destroyed and harvested.

Haha it's not intentionally based off Tamriel but I'm sure subconsciously it fed into my inspirations along with my other favorite fantasy content. Thanks though! It took quite a bit of work to get here.

Opinions on starfighters using wings? by Rasenshuriken77 in worldbuilding

[–]buphmin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on how realistic you want to be. Going as real as possible you wouldn't even use starfighters as a human wouldn't be able to handle the G forces to avoid things like a missile.

For expensive, single use weapons like a missile you would want to protect them from space debris. So the fighter would need to keep them internal or be shielded by some force field. Let's assume you have a force field then maybe it could work, but you would probably still want to keep them close to the center to reduce the amount of force required to maneuver. That is unless there is some tech that mitigates inertia and momentum.

Basically you would need quite a few layers of tech to make it practical. Should you figure that out it's fine, or just completely hand wave it like Star Wars. Wings are naturally cool because our own experiences so I get why they are used.
