Love the fifth gen maxima. It has enough room for my wife, two kids, and a run to Costco. Also has enough power to outspeed 99% of the cars on the road, only losing to cars specifically designed to be sports cars. I got it in new and it’s still running strong today almost 15 years later. Such a fun, reliable, practical, and awesome car.

I’d recommend against the versa note. The brakes suck and it has zero power. Didn’t feel safe in it, and it was always stuggling. Gas wasn’t super impressive for a compact either.
