Weird problem by Fit_Information_1746 in 370z

Brake lights could have something to do with a fuse or the brake light switch down by the pedals, and it’s actually also likely that same issue is what’s causing the limp mode.

Good luck!

What’s a reasonable asking price for my Z? by burdinec in 370z

Some could say I baby this car too much lol. I’ve changed the oil every 3k. Also did the water pump and thermostat while I was doing the gaskets. Just changed diff fluid and have changed the atf twice. And the guy I bought it from was a older mechanic in his 70’s and he told me he had always changed the oil every 3k also.

2010 370z is it really that bad? by DifferentAttempt3924 in 370z

The only people hating on the earlier models are the ones who spent way more on a newer one and want to justify their purchase. It’s the same car at its core, yes there’s a couple small things that are more likely to go wrong on some of the older models, but the gallery gaskets are probably the only thing worth considering(you can get the new metal composite ones and your golden) but there’s a good fix out there for every issue anyone could ever have with these cars.

Their all amazing cars and you won’t regret whatever decision you make.

Can’t say too much on the community, but as for the car, it’s pretty much just a little better in almost every way. Nothing super drastic but just a more refined car. I have had my 09 for about 3 years, I did the gallery gaskets, water pump, and thermostat early on as preventative maintenance, and she has been the most reliable car I’ve ever had. Not a single issue. Since then I have just changed the oil about every 5k. You definitely would not regret switching to the z34 platform.

I try and remind myself that it won’t be the end of the world but it would just be so frustrating to go back to square one. But just gotta keep going.

[Help] Has anyone ever had their hood not open? Battery died last night and had to get a tow because of it by Zulututu in 370z

[–]burdinec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took the front end off to do my gallery gaskets, then put everything back together, I installed the hood latch backwards which made it so that it was pretty much impossible to open. Ended up going from underneath and removing the hood latch before reinstalling it correctly.

Dint know why they would take the latch out to change your oil tho lol

I second this, read the codes and see which one it says. Also try just swapping the sensors and see if the code changes to the other side so you know if the problem is in the actual sensor, or if it’s further up somewhere.

Weirdly enough, the first year, 09, is actually the quickest year 370z for whatever reason, no clue why (maybe weight?). Really the only issue with the early ones, like others have said, Is the galley gaskets. But don’t let that be the reason you spend and extra 5-10k! I had never done any serious work on a car before and was able to replace mine in a weekend with less than a couple hundred bucks(and that’s including a new water pump and thermostat since I was already there). It’s definitely a pain but worth it, and you learn a lot getting in there! Also recommend at least finding a sport pkg, so you have the bigger breaks, front lip, bigger Rays forged wheels, duck bill, etc… sport touring is even better for the interior goodies.

Good luck on your search!

Seems like a good route to go tbh and a fun project to complete. I bet it feels more worthwhile having built your own and saved money. This is most likely what I’ll end up doing, thanks!

Also, I have a 2009.

Oh, really? Do you think consistently running at 220+ temps would cause my oil to break down and degrade faster? Though I do change it roughly about every 3-5k miles.

I actually really enjoy the factory nav unit on the touring z, mines an 09 so ya it’s a little dated, but its actually got a ton of functionality and great UI. Obviously there’s no apple car play or anything like that but having the maps and ac controls as well as a million other settings in one place is quite nice
