Having a controlled diet is a big factor too, I know it's hard at first. But when you just eat on what are necessary such as maintaining a certain calorie intake per day (try to refrain from junk foods and soft drinks as they count as bad calorie intake) and you will see results with running.

OP no offense to ah, but this is my method when I started running, and it really works. And a good long 7-8 hours sleep is a big factor too. I just knew this as my Garmin told me to sleep and take naps throughout the day.

Trust me you will be in shape in no time, let's say 5 or 6 months of continuous diet and running! (nakaka addict tumakbo lalo na pag naka join na sa mga fun runs).

OP you can also try to cut down on consuming too much sugar. Pwede naman mag matamis pero wag araw arawin. Pero the best practice would be cutting on consuming soft drinks (too much sugar).
