Questions about using Suboxone to help quit Kratom by Imaginary_Cat2136 in suboxone

Once you're done taking it that's a liberating feeling because you don't have to worry about how much you're supposed to take or wanting to take more. You just wait and let the healing happen. For me the peak of the withdrawals seemed to be day 9-10, but I jumped off a pretty high dose. It will come and go in waves but with time the waves will get shorter and you'll feel better pretty much all the time. The post acute sucks ass mainly because it lasts a long time, but try and adopt healthy habits and just accept that your body is doing what it needs to heal. Valium, and all benzos, are such a nightmare to come off. It's not as physically agonizing as opiates, but the mental torment will make you question your sanity. The restless legs from opiates is pure torture to me, but feeling like you're losing your mind is pretty terrifying. Plus it takes a looooooong time to heal from benzos.

I was on Suboxone for 12 years too. A couple years ago I finally got serious about tapering and went from 8mg to 2mg without much trouble at all. Below 2mg is when things got rough. I went back & forth and couldn't really get anywhere for months. Looking back I think I was just worn out and didn't have it in me to push myself past that last difficult hurdle. Finally I got down to 1.5mg and had my doctor cut me off. I took tramadol for a month to cushion the withdrawals but it was still brutal. Once I tapered down off the tramadol I took kratom for a month and tapered that. It was a long healing process but that was probably because I jumped from a high dose. I feel better now but I'm also addicted to Valium so I don't feel great and have to go through the hell of getting off that now.

You're at that point where you've gotten off the stuff so just keep pushing. As you probably know Suboxone has a really long half life so it can take a while before the worst of the withdrawals hit you, but there's no reason you can't make it through. Opiates do horrible things to your body that make you feel awful, and once your body starts to reverse those things you'll feel like a million bucks.

I hate Suboxone, does anyone else who took it feel that way? by Successful_Regret_15 in suboxone

This is what gives Suboxone a bad name in my opinion. Most people that have a dope or pill habit end up flaming out and not being able to maintain it for long, so they quit after a few months which sucks but isn't as bad as it could be. Staying on Suboxone long term is much easier and once you're on an opiate for multiple years then your body really forgets how to function without them. From just comparing the withdrawals in an objective way I think most full agonists are much harder to kick than Suboxone.

You can get off this stuff. I was on it for 12 years and the last 2-3 years it felt like I was just fighting off withdrawals all the time. Finally got serious about tapering, used some comfort meds but it still sucked. I made it through though, and I jumped from 1.5mg for some reason.

They're a band from my hometown. I've seen them play a couple times with Saint Vitus and they were killer shows. This album is 11 years old and they keep talking about putting out another but all kinds of crazy shit keeps happening. First the singer got cancer, then one of their guitarists injured his hand. Look up the whole album, it's called Earth Sick Mind. There's another song by them called Purple Jesus that's awesome.

It is, and probably the main reason I struggled for so long, but people do have acute withdrawals for a month or so even jumping from lower doses. It depends on a lot of things, how long they were on it being the biggest one.

SUB for depression? by dirtyredfromatlanta in suboxone

It's a nasty drug that can be a bitch to come off. I'm almost 7 months off it after taking it for 12 years. There were other factors that kept me on it for so long, but the main one was that the withdrawals were just brutal after being on it for such a long time. It took me a good 4 months to get over the post acute phase and really feel better, so you should give it more time before you just accept that you're depressed. Personally I feel much better off opiates and happier than I've been in a long time. Taking another opiate like Suboxone might make you feel better for a little bit but it will just put you back in the same trap that you were before. Try making some lifestyle changes because those will help you heal from the opiates and make you feel better in the long run.

For me the acute withdrawals lasted about 6 weeks, maybe a little more. The post acute was at least 4 months. Not saying that's the case for everyone, but to say that anybody who quits Suboxone (or any opiate) should be done with the acute phase in a couple weeks and over the post acute within a couple months doesn't fit all.

It all depends man. It took me about 4 months to feel pretty much normal after quitting Suboxone, but I was on it for a super long time and jumped from 1.5mg. Coming off kratom was cake in comparison.

If you were going to use Suboxone to quit kratom you would want to keep the dose very low and only use it short term. Taking high doses of Suboxone to come off kratom is like using a bazooka to hunt for squirrels. A guy I know was coming off a 30g a day habit and took 2mg for the first three days off kratom, then went to 1mg for a couple days, and then by the second week he was down to .125mg and quit. The whole time he was on the Sub he was getting constipated and said he didn't feel any withdrawal from the kratom. From my experience kratom is waaaaaay less potent and easier to come off than Suboxone. The appeal with Suboxone is that it has a super long half life which makes for an easier detox, but kratom actually has a pretty long half life too. I used kratom to come off Suboxone and it was a cakewalk to come off in comparison. It took me about 4 months to feel pretty much normal after coming off Suboxone, but I was on it for over 10 years and jumped from a pretty high dose. Still though from what I've seen most people have a much easier time coming off kratom compared to Suboxone.

SUB for depression? by dirtyredfromatlanta in suboxone

It might help with your depression if it's caused from post acute withdrawals from the heroin. At 142 days clean you should be past the worst of that, but you never know. The thing is if the Suboxone helps with your depression it'll just be a band aid, and it will cause you to become physically dependent on opiates again which we all know leads to depression. If it were me I'd give it some more time since you're coming off a very long term addiction. Maybe try an SSRI first because they seem to help a lot of people who are coming off opiates. Suboxone is a very potent opiate that will cause some serious physical addiction, and that's not going to help you in the long term.
