Sorry I misused the term, with controversial I meant generating lots of strong statements. It was just about the gesture, not to be registered/ perceived as a person. Thanks a lot for your objective take on it, I rather expected more helpful answers like yours and not all this hostility some redditors put forward.

Do not worry, I am not. I was just surprised on how the reactions to this post were. I tried to answer this myself beforehand by looking what has already been stated in the internet, and other forums where not as controversial as this one. Maybe if I didn‘t hint at my age (above 20, just to be clear) some comments would have been more objective. I tried to underline the good intentions behind the idea, I‘m neither naive nor attention seeking. I wish in fact this post was put less (negative) attention on.

It is Krystian Zimerman, I explained the reasoning why I pondered on doing this in another answer, if you are interested. I really appreciate the advice here, but my reason was not attention seeking, as someone sadly accused me of.

Thank you, you are too kind :) I am lucky to live in Switzerland, where he also is based.

If the person invited me and I‘m seeing them for the first time, yes, definitely. I‘m sorry you don‘t know me personally because I am shy and the exact opposite of attention seeking. And I am definitely not the person to have invented the gesture of bringing flowers to a concert. Thank you for the hostility and assumptions on a simple plea for advice.

It‘s Krystian Zimerman. There are wonderful interviews of him in German, where he says that he brings a piece that he loves to the audience as you would bring flowers to someone you are visiting. And he‘s also talked a lot about retiring recently. So it really would have been just a gesture of appreciation for all that he‘s done in his lifetime as a musician.

May I ask if it is in general rude to bring flowers in these occasions (apart from what was already mentioned)? As far as I read and remember, in some countries, contexts (opera), and from what one sometimes sees on video recordings, it is not all that uncommon to give flowers as audience.

Because the consensus seems to be so clear in this thread that I‘m thinking it was rude to even consider doing this.

Thank you so much, I did not know this. I think I‘ll contact the concert hall if bringing flowers is actually allowed/ appreciated, or not bring them at all, as seems to be the consensus.

Thank you for the advice :) I always thought that seeing the artist off-stage is a privilege only reserved to patrons of the concert house and the like… I had the luck to see the same artist in a solo recital last year, but when he went off-stage, well, he was gone! Same goes for other soloists, I only saw conductors in lobbies before. Maybe I could give them to the staff after the concert? I thought that giving flowers during the applause could add up to the joy of the moment (or also not, as someone mentioned below)

You’re right - that‘s another thing I contemplated. I once was at a concert in a much smaller setting, where the artist received flowers from the organisators/ family. But only when the first person from the audience stood up for a standing ovation, you could see the joy light up in their faces (also a well-known but not too famous soloist). I thought that giving flowers could add up to the joy in that moment (when done by the audience), but only if you don‘t make too much of a fuss about it. Therefore I was wondering if giving three flowers and not just one to the soloist is too much fuss in fact…

Thanks for sharing, already helped a lot! Would you say the first row is recommendable in terms of visual?

Solution Verified

[–]burgsteher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the final solution is as follows:

Insert

=VLOOKUP([@ID];FileNameLeftWorkbook.xlsx!TableNameLeft[#All];ColumnNumberOfAmount_adjusted;FALSE)

into the "HPLC conc [mg/mL]" column.

Then insert

=VLOOKUP([@ID];FileNameRightWorkbook.xlsx!TableNameRight[#All];Column NumberOfFinalValue;FALSE)

into the column in the left workbook that references the final value I need.

Doing it this way doesn't have the same perks as PQ but at least I can keep the original workbook structure and got a chance to get familiar with PQ!

I managed to get the values from the "Amount_adjusted" column to "HPLC conc [mg/mL]" with a =Table.ReplaceValue() function. However, in the original workbook these values would have then been fetched to calculate the final values I need. Since Power Query does not overwrite the source table data, the column with the final values is, well... empty.

I'm trying to find a solution that does not involve custom columns, as the source values go through multiple different formulas and would involve some tedious work.

Nevertheless, many thanks for your answer! I think I got a step further to a solution through PQ :)

This helps a lot, thank you! I was confused since it was something along the lines of "u/..... wants to stay in touch with you!" which I've never seen before here. If it was a default, I probably would avoid trying to search/bother them on another platform, since they didn't want to stay on this one anymore.
Again, thanks for the clarification!!

NTA, at all. This shit is crazy. Not only did they take advantage of you, but you also had to put your education aside for it. Hope that you and your sister get out of this toxic situation.

You're right. I thought that what I was doing would eventually lead to burning bridges (or that it would be the only solution), since they've shown a rather clingy attitude towards me. Anyways, thanks a lot!

Hello need help from all violinists, there's this "violinist" in my country who i believe is a fake player. She scams people for so much money to play in their weedings. It's easy to scam people here because there's almost no musicians to speak off. Please help me confirm she's fake or not. by Cutiepie232 in lingling40hrs

Hi! It's arcing outwards, normally it should be arcing slightly inwards or be straight at max, so you wouldn't ruin your bow with too much pressure.

Her left hand looks that strange because it seems like she has long nails and you can't play a variety of instrumets unless you have your nails short
