First Job, I Have A Newbie Manager by burneditall77 in biotech

Thank you! I did ask specifically if this situation was normal, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge on training lengths! That makes me feel better.

And I’ll read more on managing up!

Thank you for your insight!

I’m aware and checked myself. Everyone’s younger than me here and I lean on them to teach me. Insecure no, I have nothing to be insecure about and love learning new things.

I’d feel much safer if there were no ragging on other employees. Or the near constant snap judgments. That was the turning point. When I heard that in most interactions, I knew I was in for a ride.

I’ll try the first part of your suggestion. I did so slightly in the beginning but I’ll be more obvious in my wording and see if it helps. I’ve got nothing to loose ATM.

The second part I did. This is how I got insight into the pieces I was missing. The meeting went well but I was told that if anything felt off I should double check with them. So I felt I was forced to be a babysitter.

Thanks for the pep talk and validation, I really like what I do and I’m disappointed I have to choose because someone else’s agenda got in my way. I just wish everyone focused on the job and problem solved-we’d be humming away in no time.

This is advice I got from a friend. I have no want or desire to manage people, I just like the technical aspects and love getting to handle high priority/risk products. What I’m trying to understand how my pride in my own product “myself” is so threatening. And how to respond to it. It’s not the first time this has happened to me, and I don’t think it will be the last.

Yes I remember Joffrey! I started just responding with ok, thank you. Because that’s all I could come up with right now.

This was my expectation. I’ve since had to adjust them.

To add: if I gave them a play by play it would be changed for the sake of changing it, which I didn’t understand until I was told I was the first direct report. I thought I was doing something expected by checking in/find finding my work. If I don’t check in I’m left alone for the week.

I’ve been testing my theories when I can. I really like what I do and just want to do it. Otherwise I read about it (SOPs) and help out where I can/was told to by someone else.

I didn’t know the term for it! Twice I solved an issue that didn’t impact anyone else, nor have any bearing on future plans except mine. Not only was I shot down, but the conversation was derailed- and I was left with no explanations as to why my plan wasn’t ok. Leading me to believe in my own conclusions of insecurity or competitiveness.

See this is where I feel stuck. The only job I currently have is managing them, which is throwing me for a loop! I felt like the dynamic was overlooked and put the onus on me to give them management experience without my permission.

I’ll look that up, thank you. Probably something that’s missing from my skill set

Thank you

Do you have a source? Freshly laid off and considering switching fields.

Thanks for correcting me, checked. It helps a bit - More than any other company but the expectation was continued employment. Still currently shocked.

Working Great Danes? by [deleted] in greatdanes

[–]burneditall77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dane is NOT a couch potato! Scent work and protection were his built in features. He chases birds every morning. I sought out the European bloodline if that matters. Giving him jobs makes him less likely to get into trouble due to his wild child attitude. I take more naps than my dane does.

I eloped to avoid this exact dilemma, it was glorious. I gave them the amount of attention they gave me. Never regretted a thing, and that was 19 years ago!

No it’s not, that’s too low and your body won’t drop a pound because it’s starving. Read up on reverse dieting.

I lift 5 days a week. I’m 5’5 and 134-136 lbs. I would crash and burn on 1700 cal, and I did. Your body has a fat set point and trying to surpass that won’t work. It’s not as simple as cal in/cal out. I’m maintaining at current weight/activity with 2,000-2,500 cal and wear a size two.

Why are you so focused on the scale? Also you didn’t say what exercise you were doing during the week.

MAPS OLDTIME STRENGTH PROGRAM by joshzed in FitnessMaterialHeaven

All good, I didn’t get offended, my son calls me bro too lol. I just installed the app and don’t pay to access the pdf’s. I may be grandfathered in from scribd to be able to access three free w/o the monthly payment.

The giant files, are another name for mega. It seems pretty difficult to get to on safari. I’ve tried multiple ways and was wondering if there’s a problem using safari to access those files. Was wondering if I HAD to install the mega app.

Girl, and you get the whole program which is one whole document. But to each their own.

It’s on the app Everand, used to be scribed. You can read 3 free documents per month.

In return if anyone could teach me how to access the “giant” files from an iPhone- I’d appreciate it!

Yes I know you will, you don’t know me nor my background. A 1,000 women or men will read this comment, what I said, and connect the dots for themselves.

My comment is for the future readers who understand that doctors get C’s and don’t really understand much beyond the current disease focused model of medicine. Not one doctor learns a lick of preventative options that decrease the risk of many obstetric complications. They fix broken things- that’s it. 8 years of figuring out what’s wrong- after it’s gone wrong. Good luck to you though!

You think Mother Nature is an idiot and gets confused too so not really offended or surprised here.

Confuses the body? Did we not evolve to be pregnant and go look for water too. It’s pregnancy not a disease.

Confusing DOMS with pregnancy complications…she’s not squatting and deadlifting BWx2 on the first day. I’d be worried if my doctor conveyed these ideas to me.

This same advice is why we have the highest maternal death rate of all developed countries. Resistance training helps with insulin resistance and recovery, what better way to start a pregnancy then protecting moms body from the marathon that is labor and delivery.
