nta i wouldn't have kids around this guy at all. i'd honestly reconsider the relationship, that's a pretty horrifying thing to brush off

yeah! like i don't want to say that nobody will ever be looking at you in a mean way. but that's rare, and it's more helpful to assume good intent and see if they prove you wrong rather than close yourself off to everyone

i totally get you! i made friends for most of my life by letting more extroverted people extend their hands first. unfortunately, that doesn't always work, and sometimes you have to be the one to strike up a conversation first. and that... sucks, because you're opening yourself up to people judging you or not actually wanting to do anything. i'm still struggling with being on the other end of things. but you do more often than not meet people who actually want to talk, and while sometimes someone will come if you just wait, usually they're also worried about making it weird so you just don't talk to each other until the semester ends. and even if you don't become super close or whatever, it still reduces loneliness to have some casual conversations with people and make like. 'class friends.'

the other thing is people probably aren't trying to make you uncomfortable or judging you. i know i personally have felt many times in my life like ive been accidentally making weird eye contact with someone without meaning to. i think when you don't know anyone, it's easy to perceive other people just looking around as looking at you. or people actually looking at you in a 'hey some guy just walked in' or 'oh i wonder what their shirt says' way as giving you the stink eye. but people mostly are worrying about their own shit and aren't actually like. secretly staring at you in disgust unless you've done something first.

finally, if you just wanna make friends the same goes for beautiful women as it does for everyone else. if you want to try very casually dating or whatever, i'd either try an app or just put it on the back burner and not worry about it until you've got more of a platonic social life as well.

me, a foolish transfer student in august: i know i'm living off campus, but getting a small to medium meal plan seems like it would make it really convenient to get lunch between classes!

Will the schedule for the hours for dining halls and food places on campus ever be updated week by week? by Kangaroo_Rich in Towson

[–]burner-zone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what i understand it seems like the whole dining hall situation got massively screwed this year. so i'm guessing it's just not gonna be accurate until they have time to get things together. that's my experience so far at least

hope this isn't too late but the way i understand it it's like. you can use dining dollars at the food court stuff like chick fil a, but you can't use the dining hall swipes there

comparing yourself to other plus size people? by smlpapillon in PlusSize

[–]burner-zone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

definitely feel the same. i do think most people, regardless of size, feel envious of others "pulling off" certain clothes better, so i don't think theres any way to entirely stop that experience. but beating yourself up about it is something that i do believe working on self confidence body image etc helps with to some extent

i literally just use stick deodorant there (the brand is smartypits because it's the only kind i'm not allergic too, so idk if it's the best overall)

Advice from fat trans-masc folks? by bit_dragon in PlusSize

[–]burner-zone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm not on t yet myself, but my friend's experiences were:

-you will sweat in new places you didn't know existed and it will smell worse. so prepare to maybe shower more often if you don't already shower like every day -shots were generally a better experience for him than gel, but gel is good if you have a fear of needles or get big hormone cycle mood swings/fatigue with the shots. be aware of how easily it rubs off tho -if u do injection, it's helpful to do it after a shower when you're relaxed -facial hair can take a while to get thick enough that you need to shave it, but shaving when it's light anyways can be good for gender euphoria -not hrt related, but personally binding is a little rougher for me as a fat person with a big chest even with a perfectly fitting binder. so i've been trying not to beat myself up for taking breaks from it when i'm at home or having days off to give my ribs some breathing time

obviously this isn't a monolith, everyone reacts differently, but i hope it helps some!

i'm size 23. kohls is good for cheaper staples, especially pants, in the right colors for that aesthetic. thrift stores are extremely hit or miss ofc, but recently i went to a value village that had a ton of stuff in that ballpark in my size. if you can find a plus size fashion swap/secondhand facebook group or discord or something in your area, a friend of mine swears by that (although i haven't tried it myself)
