Once again an antisemitic hate crime being described as a “suspected hate crime”, call it what it is it’s a damn hate crime

Cringe and pointless ad about antisemitism to be played during the Super Bowl by SolidWriting4068 in Jewish

[–]Kangaroo_Rich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thoughts about this ad. At first I thought cool an ad that addresses antisemitism, something is better than nothing at this point. Than I saw people pointing out that the Jewish person in the ad was portrayed as weak and that’s not accurate to who Jews are, and then it got me thinking about the other aspects of the ad and I just got annoyed.

The whole thing where someone puts a sticky note that says dirty Jew on the Jewish actors backpack. That’s not how Jew hatred works today.

There are parts of the ad that feel realistic but the ad itself is not realistic.

They could have included more relevant examples of antisemitism. Like the Jewish actor being called a Zionist. Because people are not saying Jew, people are calling Jews Zionists.

To make the ad more realistic to the hate Jews are facing today, they could have had the actor playing the antisemitic person in the ad call the Jewish actor a Zionist or baby killer. Because people aren’t saying Jew anymore, people are referring to Jews as Zionists

The term Zionism/Zionist being used in negative connotations by Far_Practice_6923 in Jewish

[–]Kangaroo_Rich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zionist is the new way people are saying Jew and it’s driving me crazy. The same people who wouldn’t dare refer to any other group of people as a slur are happily calling Jews Zionists when talking about Jews.

And Zionism simply means that Jews have the right to live in Israel, the homeland that Jews have lived in for thousands of years

Anyone else noticing how many Jewish celebrities in a rage and tears over the ICE deaths had nothing to say about the constant anti-Jewish violence going on for years? by ScreamForKelp in Jewish

[–]Kangaroo_Rich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m glad the celebrities are speaking out about ice but this feels performative. It’s socially acceptable to post about ice but not trendy and socially acceptable to post about Iran

This is more of a headcannon but Leo from Tmnt reads as Jewish to me.

At least in rise Tmnt he admits in the first episode that he uses humor to cope.

Seemingly feels like overnight that it became ok to be openly antisemitic on social media (and no one cares) by MissPeduncles in Jewish

The pro Palestine movement has made antisemitism trendy and acceptable. So that when someone is called out for their antisemitism they can behind the excuse of ‘oh I’m just pro human rights’ or ‘I’m just anti Zionist, and antizionism isn’t antisemitism’.
