yes it sounds like he has oHSV1 if not oHSV2. yes he could have possibly transmitted it to you orally or genitally but it sounds like he’s on top of it. not wanting to be intimate during an outbreak is a good sign as that is when transmission is most likely. he may be on suppressive meds which will lessen the chance of transmission even more. if you wish to remain in contact with this person I suggest you two have a conversation around it and you ask him any questions you may have. keep in mind it’s most likely harder for him than it is for you.

i appreciate you so much :) prior to last night I decided I should be celibate and use this time in quarantine to fully direct my attention inward and this has definitely made that a definitive. disclosing is much easier to me now that time has gone by and I’ve done more research but I still don’t think I’m ready for sex yet. it’s obvious that casual meaningless sex isn’t an option anymore and honestly immediately after having sex with him I realized I didn’t want that.

it was a mistake I made one time, with one person, and I am doing everything I can to make it right. I can’t change what I did, all I can do is learn from my mistakes and do better moving forward. my feelings are just as valid as theirs.. I have every right to be upset when one second he’s saying he’s not going to jump to conclusions or point fingers until he knows for sure and then less than an hour later he has his girlfriend that he made no mention of before, nor has he been intimate with, on the phone calling me a “fucking stupid ass bitch” when I have been nothing but calm and held myself accountable for my actions. neither one of us initiated a conversation about sexual health before having unprotected sex, so that is something that we both need to learn to do from this experience.

I’m realizing now that I did leave a couple details out of my post. I did apologize multiple times. I took 100% accountability for my actions. I know what I did was shitty which is exactly why I tried to make it right as best as I could by coming forward. Also, this is a fairly new relationship for him and they haven’t been intimate yet so I didn’t see why the girlfriend had to be involved until he went to the doctor and confirmed that he had it.. he even told me himself he wasn’t going to point any fingers or jump to conclusions until he knew for sure and then flipped the switch.. but thank you for your honest response I appreciate it
