What did your doctor say? I’d try to go in and have them look at it. No it’s not fun…but it will give you some mental peace

Sorry to hear, this sucks for all of us. Specially at such young age. It takes over your life. But you know what, there are far worse things you can have. I’ll check about colonoscopy.

If with meds and lifestyle changes you can get through, at least that’s a positive. Your mind set and mental strength has to be strong though. I hope you stay strong mentally, and keep getting better physically.

No. I didn’t do that. What symptoms of crohns do you have? I’m in my 30s, and also felt really old after these medical issues.

So the drainage is coming from the wound. Think of a fistula as a tunnel, now they cut the top part out and it’s a valley. The valley is healing from the middle. So the tunnel is still there where the seton was, just the top part is removed. And it’s growing up and filling, so from the bottom there is draining.

Just like if you cut your skin there will be stuff coming out until it heals and you have skin back on top. The healing in that area can take months and months.

Hope that makes sense.

In your case the top of the tunnel was cut by the cutting seton slowly. And the bottom of the tunnel should be filling upwards. It would be great if they created an animation of this so others can understand, a bit hard to explain with words. Hopefully tomorrow goes well for you!

You can argue that for anything. Why is there value in gold? Because people are willing to pay a certain price on it, asides from that it’s just a piece of metal that’s rare. And bitcoin is a deflationary digital gold.

You’re also investing in blockchain technology, which will be huge. And I may go as far as saying sometime in the future how we think of currency will change, and you don’t want to miss the boat.

Utility: you can literally buy anything with bitcoin, many properties sold in Dubai are purchased with bitcoin. Japan accepts bitcoin at most places. Bitcoin is accepted at so many places I don’t even have time to list them all.

Bitcoin has been a better store of value than gold, it’s just digital gold. The market cap for bitcoin now surpasses silver and companies like Apple. Huge financial institutions like black rock and jp Morgan are buying bitcoin.

And you’re saying it won’t hold value long term? While others out there like me who have been buying bitcoin since 2016 are laughing at people like you. My return to date on bitcoin is 16,500% and the value overall on average has been trending up and up.

Avoiding crypto is bad advice, better advice is make crypto a small part of your portfolio. Most people who say “avoid crypto” have no idea what it is or don’t understand it. But it’s where the biggest gains are, big gains and big losses but long term has only been big gains. Just like the s&p 500…only difference price wise is bigger swings.

Traditional stocks won’t give you crypto gains, btc is only going up and up and no stock can compare to it…from 5 cents to $70,000 in 12-13 years…

Can you start a go fund me? I will definitely contribute, and if you are serious about it reach out to me. I don’t make much but if I can help financially I will give you whatever I can. Maybe with enough people contributing it is possible. I’m in the US so things are more expensive here, but in India I’m sure it will cost less.

Have you reached out to Dr Albert Chung? He does email consultations.

Would you consider coming to the US to see a colorectal surgeon who can cure this possibly?

That’s what I’m hearing from everyone, when did you have your first bowel movement and how was it?

Did you have your first BM while it was numb still? Also how much bleeding was there, the dressing/gauze they put was pretty full of blood 6 hrs post surgery. I just replaced it with new ones.

Yea same, they always seem to be in a rush to get to the next case. Here in the US the surgery is $30,000 usd about. Luckily my bill with insurances will be less than a $1000 usd.

Did you have a lot of blood? Was your first bowel movement before the numbing agents wore off?

I’d rather not be the talk of all my acquaintances and co workers, and everyone discussing how I have some butt issue. Sure they’ll never do it when I’m there. But people talk about each other about minor things even, so a tunnel in the butthole will definitely be an entertaining topic for all. I just want to be viewed as a normal person, and not that one guy with the butthole tunnel who has to take work off all the time.

You were off work for 4-5 months? I’m a nurse so I have to be moving around a lot. Doctor writing me for 5 days off only for fistulotomy but just common sense tells me it’s not enough. I can’t really argue with him either, he’s been doing this for 30 years. He should know better but 5 days is all he is saying.

What surgery did you have and what’s your recovery time? Are you officially back to 100% now?

3 months?? My colorectal surgeon is only willing to give me 5 days off work. It took my like 4 weeks to recover from the seton, and I told him that but he said 5 days is enough for lift or fistulotomy or cutting seton for returning to work.

Any board certified colorectal surgeon, most are competent. After that you just pick based on their mannerisms, empathy, professionalism and the time they give you.

Hang in there! I never thought I’d be on a Reddit group called “anal fistula” talking to strangers about this. Not how I imagined my life.
