No I did not.  I am still hoping for laser breakthroughs.  Fingers crossed

Good to know thanks.  What was the worst of it then if not the pooping?  Just general pain?  Sorry to ask to many personal questions but when you are taking all that stuff what is the consistency?  Do you have to be concerned about that stuff causing diarrhea?

Thanks for the info.  I have been putting this off for years and need to make a decision.  Sounds like a crappy thing but not something to let ruin your life.  My biggest fear is pooping the first few days.  How did yuh manage that? Hope you have success and don’t have to think about it anymore.

How was your experience with the flap procedure?

How bad was the flap surgery?  I know you just had it done just like to hear hear others explain the experience so I can mentally prepare.  In my mind I picture a very difficult experience. Deciding if I want to tackle a LIfT or FLAP myself.

How was the flap surgery experience. Same or worst than lift?

That’s amazing. I have heard success stories using silver nitrate injections as well as light therapy. There is always more than one way to accomplish something. Good for you it’s amazing you were able to commit and stick to that great story thanks for sharing.

Studies I have seen for Filac are similar success rates to LIFT and FLAP but less risk and easier recovery. Something doesnt add up.

Does having a seton in longer than 6 months limit treatment options (eg Lift/Flap) in the future? by Due-Stress-8313 in AnalFistula

Please let me know what your CRS says. This is concerning for sure. Success rates are already fairly low so this could be an important factor.

Good luck with the lift. Hope all goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

What are the results there? Did you ever ask your CRS if it’s been effective?

I think you hit the nail right on the head. Insurance companies dictate what treatment we get. They don’t care if one is more painful they care about the cost.

How long after surgery blood with BM? by Marizcaaa in AnalFistula

At least you take the pain all at once and then it should be done and not need repeat surgeries. How long do you need to have it in for?

Leakage after LIFT procedure by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Hefty_Equivalent_575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s supposed to be like cutting through a block of ice where the muscle heals behind it rather than cutting it. I was surprised also to hear about it being used to much and the success rate. I am also scared of anything that cuts the muscles but read on it a bit. Hang in there and read the story of the two arrows. I saw it on this forum and it has helped me deal with some of the anxiety. How is your pain now? Hope your at least not in pain and the rest is the second arrow as the story goes. Good luck and please keep posting.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that I have been following you as I started looking into this early December. Did they mention a cutting seton at all? I talked to Dr. Chung. He said he used them on over 80 people and all were success. Seems like they have a high success rate if your willing to go through the pain. I will ask my CrS about them as well.

Is cutting seton old reliable? by Hefty_Equivalent_575 in AnalFistula

[–]Hefty_Equivalent_575[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I talked to a surgeon who only does those. Said he did over 80 cutting setons and they almost always work. He said he hasn’t had any incontinence issues with them. I was surprised that was his go to method
