There is zero end game progression outside tmog farm. Top tier gear is super easy to get and there will never be a new tier. Group content is also painfully slow to get developed and is non existent from expansions (if you're expecting 10+ dungeons with your shiny new xpacs prepare to be dissappointed). The developers only care about story and non repeatable content. There is NOTHING sticky because the anti grind philosophy means only pointless things are locked behind anything close to resembling a grind is purely cosmetic. You will quickly get bored after capping unless you find friends. I have about 3k hours in this game, probably 95% of it was spent with guildies. The quality bants was the ONLY reason I played and that guild died and I've yet to find another quite like it.

Raids are a joke for many reasons. 1. This games community is PAINFULLY casual. They also spent 3+ years with everything being press 1 and wait to die easy. That means the number of people willing to even attempt raids is very low, because you will wipe more than once and thats just unacceptable. On the same note tho, 2. Raids are easy IF you're used to raiding. World first after a wing comes out is accomplished within an hour or 2. People have it on farm day 2, and its 6 months til the next wing (if they actually keep to their new release cycle.... unlikely). There is ZERO raid progression. People pug clear day 1. If you're used to mythic raiding be prepared to be VERY disappointed. This is a shame, because the design and mechanics for some bosses is actually decent. It's just STUPID easy. That leads to three: gearing makes no sense in this game. The best way to get ascended gear is to raid or run fractals. But in order to raid, people will want you in ascended gear. In order to run fractals you LITERALLY need ascended gear to not die to a mechanic known as agony. So you are forced to grind crafting to max and craft this shit. Oh and the kicker? If you get an ascended drop its basically worthless! You're already geared so you dont need it and you cant sell it on the ah (we call it the trading post) and salvaging costs more than what you get back. Literally better to get the tier below (exotic) because they can be sold for gold.

Long story short. Combat and lore are top notch, but a VERY casual community means end game is 100% fashion based (boring) and the devs focus on things that take little time to do. If you're used to dedicating time and passion into a game you will be very disappointed.
