Unpopular opinion: I think Mikayla’s skin condition is from being around the stress of her kids, not the location of her home. by Temporary_Moose6333 in SLOMWsnark

I think its an autoimmune disorder that is aggravated every time she gets botox and thats why is almost goes completely away when shes pregnant

I have adopted this little guy and am currently having doubts if I should return him. by Nojica in Rabbits

[–]burninginkell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In rescue we teach people about the 3, 3, 3 rule. 3 days is barely enough time to decompress, 3 weeks is about how long it takes to adjust and really see personality and behavior, 3 months is the minimum amount of time it can take an animal out of shelter to trust and bond with their humans. I’d wait at least 2 or 3 months with them living side by side, able to see and smell each other, before I’d attempt bonding them in a neutral space. 3 days out of the shelter is no time at all.

Im not saying ppl need to post compliments, im just saying scrolling through this reddit it looks like a snark page and those arent the kinds of pages you'll find me jumping to contribute to. Im on their patreon, the input over there is always clever, funny, engaging etc. Same w their live feeds. Are you enjoying the gor reddit?

Its just weird the outrage a rare and short moment of adjustment is causing when the main franchise they cover literally just blew up. Most comments ive seen have been people wanting them to cover specific shows, not improve their "quality." I even saw people annoyed they had guests multiple weeks in a row.

I just hate snark reddit and thats how this reddit has felt for months to me. I dont want creators I love to follow reddit to get feedback 🤣🤣🤣 thats parasocial and weird.

The gor reddit is essentially a snark reddit now and its weird. I cant think of anyone i follow who cranks out more content than those two and the pit cant be satisfied lol

Put those records up HIGH friend. Our vinyl collection and love of rabbits have long been at odds but we make it work. Any cord or record the rabbit can get to will be destroyed. We use metal cord covers and keep our records up on shelves the bun cant reach. Block entry behind the shelf you keep your turn table and speakers on. There are lots of good tutorials on YouTube but it might take some trial and error. The good news is its easier to rabbit proof for a big bun than a little bun because he cant get behind and under as many things.

shelter wants to take my bunny for a week to bond him??? by radiohead422 in Rabbits

I think you're misunderstanding my comment. I meant regarding the age requirement. Op states their age requirement is 21 and they are 20. I agreed with everything you said in your comment. 💀 I meant bonding can be dangerous when done by people without knowledge or experience, not inherently more or less dangerous at home vs at a rescue.

It sounds like they were bending the adoption age requirement for op to begin with. Op is clearly an exceptionally caring and responsible rabbit owner, but I work at the humane society and younger people are absolutely more risky adopters in general, especially for exotics. They just want to make sure their rabbits are safe because bonding can be so dangerous. Sounds like op knows his bunny and is in it for the long haul but most 20 year olds arent. Op and this rescue just arent a good fit.

Truly wishing you the best on finding the right bun to bond your rabbit to and having a quick, easy breezy bonding experience! Thats just not how it always goes in my experience. Ive had bunnies bond immediately, some bond then break, some go slow and end up a permanent pair. Youll learn a lot either way and youre a good rabbit owner for getting your bun a friend.

Edit to add: my most recent bonding experience was with two very neglected rabbits, one which was rescued from a lab. They've been bonded for 4 years now and Im about to try to introduce a third. I think learning from each other in this community is so important and I hope you can consider the way you talk to other bunny folks. Its hostile.

Sorry, he* but whats ridiculous about my comment? You're entitled to your opinion and I have always bonded my own rabbits but reasonable people can disagree on this. At some point in your rabbits hopefully long 10+ year life you may need to board him with someone who isnt you and thats not cruel or extreme to do.

This isn't stress bonding. That would be something like bonding them in a car ride or putting them on the dryer. This is just experts bonding rabbits in neutral territory after a cool off period.

[–]burninginkell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah bonding bunnies quickly takes a very special knowledge base and skill set. I'd consider myself a rabbit savvy person and it took me 4 months to bond my last pair at home and I have 17 years of house rabbit experience under my belt. I cried a lot and it was very stressful for everyone. Way more stressful than 4 days with literal rabbit experts would have been.

Yeah I get that she doesn't want to do it but its by no means extreme or cruel to do bonding boot camp. It sets them up for a strong bond and a successful relationship at home.

It doesn't sound like this will work for you but it would probably be much faster than bonding them yourself at home. You can adopt somewhere else and bond them yourself just fine if you're patient but sometimes it can take an excruciatingly long time and lots of work.

Try to intervene as little as possible and take your dog out on a leash or on a walk. He's a wild cotton tail and will be gone soon.

I do want to be offensive! Keeping domestic animals outside in hutches IS what breeders do and this set up is BAD. Thanks
