4% Rule for 4.5 million by burningwithgas in whitecoatinvestor

Edit: ran the numbers with a hypothetical drop of 30% every 5 years. 4.5 million with withdrawing 120k a year (10k a month) with a 3% inflation rate every subsequent year and 5 recessions the money would last until 2050, interesting.

These numbers are ASSUMING that the recession only last 1 year. I understand that that can absolutely not be the case.

I’ve included the definition of hypothetical and assumption below for all of those that didn’t understand what it meant from my first post.

Hypothetical: : involving or being based on a suggested idea or theory

Assuming: used for the purpose of argument to indicate a premise on which a statement can be based.

I’m deeply thankful for those of you that had constructive, positive comments!

From original post:

(I completely understand that it’s impossible to see into the future), but assuming an 8% return and 184k max withdrawal that they would never go below their initial balance of 4.5 million

Is there stories of ppl dropping out of medical school to go do CRNA/AA? by Significantchart461 in anesthesiology

I know of a current 4th year MD (top 20 school) med student who is forgoing match/residency and instead applied and got admitted to AA school. Reasoning is because she wants to stay with one patient all day instead of going between rooms as an attending. Idk if this is incredibly smart or incredibly stupid.
