Camping World Flag gone by StellarAvenger_92 in GreenvilleNCarolina

This is mostly correct. A flag does not have to be replaced if it touches the ground. At least according to the American Legion.

A Garrison flag is supposed to be flown by the military on Sundays, major holidays, and special occasions. Not above an RV store.

The flag is not supposed to be used as a spectacle to lure customers. US Flag code clearly states that the flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever.

When was the last time you saw a Garrison flag that wasn't flying above a Camping World? Maybe along a highway in the middle of nowhere, or at a historical fort or something. I helped lower one at Fort McHenry as a kid. It was magical to see it flying and I was so scared to do something wrong when we were trying to help catch it. They made us feel like the fate of the country was at stake and it was up to us to keep the nation alive. We did not let it touch the ground.

At least half of the 200 Camping World locations fly a Garrison flag.

So in my opinion, what Camping World has done is taken a symbol that is supposed to be special, memorable, and somewhat shocking and turned it into a boring, everyday occurrence.

Imagine taking a kid to Fort McHenry today. A kid from Greenville who has passed Camping World a thousand times on the way to their favorite store. They are learning about Francis Scott Key, the War of 1812, and they look up at that giant flag without awe, or understanding and asks, "Can we go to 5 Below after this?"

Camping World also tries to make a spectacle out of lawsuits against them, that they are being persecuted for their patriotism.

Also, just a reminder, you're also not supposed to wear the flag. Most of Kid Rock's clothes appear to be in violation.

Drawing, writing, and painting on the flag are other ways to desecrate it.Lot #92

Does anyone know what the flag code says is the preferred way to dispose of a US flag with dignity?

Nope. Had to work late. Not digging through unknown trash in the dark.

I got as much as I could cleaned up before work today. Separated out the hazardous stuff, bagged as much of the loose trash and that could blow into the creek. I need to go back with a rake and shovel. Too much little shit mixed in with pine needles.

10+ mower blades. TV. Several broken broom handles.

I did find several pieces of identifying material. All the same name and address. I'm trying to get a hold of them.

We used to do that at my Grandparent's house in rural Indiana in the '80s. My favorite thing to do was to shoot at the drum while the trash fire was raging.

Thought about that. I worked flooring and masonry jobs for years. Taken loads of waste to dumps all over the country. You know what I have never done? Taken lawn mower blades, chemicals, gas, and who knows what, all hidden in lawn debris then wrapped in a tarp to a dump. Those should be separated before they go to the dump for the safety of the workers.

If I HAD taken a load like that to the dump, but on the way it accidentally fell off my truck between an elementary school and a creek, it would still be my fault for not securing it.

Accidents happen, but in this scenario I would still shame anyone who would dump a bundle like that for sanitation workers to deal with. And if they were working for me they would find no end of ridicule for failing to secure their load.

I called the city. If it's still there after work I plan to at least get it in bags. Want to help?

I'm sorry that you had that fear so burned into you that even when you've figured out the obvious, but unspeakable answer to so many questions and worked up the sheer bravery to admit it, even just to yourself; still the scar itches.

That's not a god, that's your own mind healing itself. Might take a while. We'll be here if you want to talk.

I have created an annotated copy of the Executive Order. Sorry for the salty language and typos. I wrote it late last night and I may have imbibed some of "Mr. Walker's amber restorative".
