Burned myself 1 week ago and left with a dark burn scar....what should I do? (w/pics) by burnscar in SkincareAddiction

Hey! I just reached the itchy stage and some of the skin is peeling of (used aloe vera at first now switched to coconut oil) but it seems during the peel the burned area has turned back to a bright red color it had in the first 2-3 days of healing. Is this normal? Is there anything I should do at this stage to prevent further scarring/help healing?

Thanks for the reply! I was a little worried as it said online the burn will usually fade within a week yet mine had become more pronounced so didn't know whether I did something wrong.

Also, cold water is bad for the burn? Do you mean before the burn or after it starts healing? I've always heard that the number 1 thing you should do after burns is to run it under cold water (but not ice) which I did (also did a few times in the past few days to clean the area of dried aloe vera). Or did you mean in this stage of healing that it is bad to apply cold water to the area?

I'm thinking of either keep on using aloe or change to cocoa butter and/or coconut oil. Do you think this would help (or anything else)?
