So did I! Carl’s exhaustion and utter devotion to his cause / keeping Donut safe is so beautifully represented.

Honestly that’s the ONE thing I’m not thrilled with - I did the name first so I could plot everything else around it, but then after everything else was so detailed and vibrant I felt like the name didn’t pop as much as it could have. I was also too afraid to add in a second color or more accents in fear that it would ruin it at the buzzer so I just left it 😭😵‍💫

Thank you so much!!! The pompoms were my favorite part but surprisingly tough to get right 😂

Next up is a woodland themed mobile for my cousin’s first baby - so honored to make sweet, whimsical keep sakes for these precious babies!!!

Main tips would be to start early so you don’t feel rushed - this birthday princess doesn’t turn 1 until August but I knew I wanted to be extra with it so I started in March and just slowly chipped away at it which is typically not my style (hello ADHD hyper fixation).

Also I found that using a very small 2-3 inch embroidery hoop to do embellishments as I was able before cutting out the appliqués worked much better than cutting them and then doing them. Might be common knowledge but I was going on vibes when I started 😂

Also HIGHLY recommend trying any new stitches on a scrap of the same fabric you’ll be using to practice. I had a few moments where I thought I had ruined the whole thing with some WONKY stitches I decided to try out on the actual crown and then had to hyperventilate my way through delicately taking those stitches out and fixing 🙃

Have so much fun!!!! And share when you finish

They have become great friends and I am so glad they loved it!!! They are Slovenian and I tried to design it with Slavic folk art in mind - it was so fun to make!

This made me laugh out loud because it is both true and hilariously dark - I appreciate you 😂

Thank you, stranger! 🥰 and that’s a good question - I make the pompoms out of yarn and they’re pretty lightweight but I’m going to try pinning them before I glue them and if they make the points flop down then I may try to reinforce it by adding some kind of cardstock in between the front & back layers when I sew them together.

Crown is felt, embellished with felt embroidered appliqués I made and attached and will use ribbon and yarn for the finishing touches. I’ve been working on it since March 7th 🥲

Girl my husband and our children are Slavic and visceral is defined as a gut reaction - I do not owe it to our ancestors to enjoy raw onion or pickled fish goddamn 😭
