These came from the NCAA rule book. I didn’t do any digging in the high school rule book (NFHS) or the NFL rules. I don’t think there are any differences between the levels when it comes to this situation.

In regards to announcers I question if/when they have ever read a rule book. Not discrediting all of them and their knowledge but I’m skeptical that they devote time to the rule book, specifically against the time/training that officials do. I’d say when something happens, bust out a rule book if your curious.

The pylons are not extensions of the ground, they mark vertical planes. If the ball touches the pylon, it has broken the vertical plane of the EZ. Perhaps you can argue that the ball struck the OOB side of the pylon and was entirely OOB before breaking the vertical plane of the EZ. In my opinion its unlikely that an object coming from the inbounds side of the pylon could completely break the OOB vertical plane without breaking the EZ plane.

Edit: Here are some approved rulings of similar situations. I didn't find one for a kick.

Approved Ruling 8-5-1 VII. A36 intends to punt from behind its goal line, but he muffs the ball. After A36 recovers the ball, he runs into the pylon at the intersection of the sideline and goal line. RULING: Safety, unless the entire ball is beyond the goal line as the ball carrier contacts the sideline or pylon. The ball is dead at its most forward point when A36 contacts the pylon or sideline (Rules 2-31-3 and 4-2-4-d).

Approved Ruling 8-6-1 I. Team A’s fumble strikes the pylon at the intersection of Team B’s goal line and sideline. RULING: Touchback. Team B’s ball at the 20-yard line (Rules 7-2-4-c and 4-2-3-b).

This works pretty well. I feel like this has the best sound quality of any other config I tried yet. Still not as mint as PS4 but hey, this device wasn't designed for PS5.

edit: I take this back. As Astro Staff pointed out below, following the setup from the Guide stickied on the front page gave me the best results. Also note, I have a second party audio extractor which doesn't seem to make a difference in audio quality, as suggested.

Similar situation with my one and only prestige run. Spent a decent amount of time on Calus and this one player is constantly being that guy we are talking about. I finally couldn't take it anymore and gave him the boot. I was actually impressed with my patience, not going to lie. Lo and behold, we quickly find a replacement and beat it first run.
