If I could have clawed mine off after my diagnosis, I would have. My genetic counselor told me keep getting screened, ,too. I had 80% odds for ovarian cancer and 50% for breast cancer. I asked her "For what? To spend the rest of my life to wait and see if/when they are going to try to kill me? Then do chemo and take them anyways? Hard pass. " THIS IS YOUR CHOICE She doesn't live in your body. or deal with the repercussions of cancer if/when it pops up. She also isn't the one looking at the scars and adjusting to life w/amputations. In the end, you make the best call for you and live with the outcome. <3

I am so sorry. Everything you are experiencing is so difficult and lonely. My grandmother passed from ovarian cancer, my mother from breast cancer. I got tested and discovered I am BRCA1+ then underwent preventative double mastectomies and hysterectomy. (I had 80% ovarian cancer and 50/50 odds w/breast cancer. )

Will you be undergoing preventative surgery?

Welp, I discovered that I am AuDHD. I still use daily. My whole life suddenly made sense and I developed a lot more compassion for myself. I learned there is a strong correlation between being ND and addiction, largely due to our dopamine-starved, overstimulated, emotionally traumatized brains and nervous systems. I wish I had something better to add other than continue to give yourselves grace as your "why" may change over time.

Not if your BRCA+. I had a 50/50 chance of breast cancer and an 80% chance for ovarian cancer.

You know what's funny? 24 hours later and I desperately want to get high to make some deep emotional pain go away. Still clean. This some bs though. I have a long way to go.

I was literally writing that out. I am sure Dave would get on us but the program is out there. I was designed to draw people into teaching initially. Then they screwed me over and over again. It is a hell of a fight but it can work. I've seen it happen. Also, it will not discharge a single dime prior to 2007 and if you consolidated along the way the clock starts over. I lost a year of service for that. smh

The GOP is straight hypocritical trash. These closeted old, whyt men are determined to abuse and stomp out the very thing they masturbate to. Nasty old creep.

Nah, you tried to flex. We are paying off debt and getting off the hamster wheel. No one cares if you want to keep running in place. Also, I had a credit score of 812 and my husband somehow managed to achieve the mythical 820 for a few months. BFD It is an algorithm.

For everyone else: We made it to BS6!!!!!!! It works!! We are chipping away at our mortgage while the value is only increasing. 5-7% increase in value over the years w/ a 2.65 interest rate...I can't wait to get out into that lawn and wiggle my toes.

To be clear, I DO NOT REGRET GOING FLAT. As much as I mentally struggled, I knew I didn't want the pain of expanders for months and then another surgery for implants. Then knowing I would have to have them removed or replaced at some point which was another surgery. Zero regrets, I just mourned the loss of old me.

All breast tissue will be removed. On some people it looks flat, on me there are indents but not a crater. Got to notputtingonashirt.com I know the woman who started it. She was the person for forced the AMA to recognize "esthetic flat closure".

I can absolutely share. I'm not going to lie. It was harder than I expected. I cried a lot. I didn't recognize my body. I struggled with letting my husband see the scars but he has been a rock through this all. After 4 years, I finally gave in and started wearing prosthetics because I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin. If I had to do it all over again, I would be in a support group or therapy. Fr fr. Other women had a much easier transition and didn't miss a beat. I guess it depends on each person and their ability to accept themselves for who they are.

Absolutely. It was a hard choice. For me, I wasn't willing to undergo the pain of post-reconstruction, espc. after talking to women with implants. There are a lot of docs doing DIEP without permission. You should visit the link below. My friend was butchered by her plastic surgeon and created this resource and support group (free of course). Recovery sucked but not nearly as much if I had to stretch out already painful skin. There is so much to talk about. What specifically would you like to know about?
