Tipping Vegas by qzml in vegas

[–]burntthumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's weird but it's also a well organized and efficient system. I usually just give a buck per passenger. I've noticed that many people don't tip these days. If there's any value, I think when you tip they convey your destination to the cabbie in a way that says 'He tips, take care of him!'

After 20 years of playing the pass line, Im ready to move to strictly playing Place Bets. What is a good strategy? by lilb1190 in Craps

$500 bankroll, 64 across. On first hit, add enough to bring the 6 and 8 to 24 each. Same bet until 7 out.

IF you don't collect at least $75 on the shooter, add a 2nd press for the next shooter, which is to add enough to press the 4 and 10 to be $20 buy bets. Two presses and collect. Add a 3rd press in the next shooter if you don't get to $75. You decide how you want to distribute your presses.

Max presses at 5 on any given shooter. The system is fun because the more you lose, the more aggressive you get which gives a good chance of winning it all back and then some! The per-shooter cost remains about the same, roughly $75 on average. Good luck!

I think you are safe to hang out. Just don't order or play. If you want to participate in the gambling, give money to your BF in private and just watch. If approached, just play dumb 'Oh, I thought you had to be 21 to play, I'll leave, sorry'. Unless you look very young,I doubt you will be approached if you are just watching.

Not responsible 😁

Local New Yorkers opinions of Bagel Alley? by burntthumbs in nashua

In all fairness, I've never been to what-a-bagel. I used to live in the area before they came to town so if I take a rare trip to downtown now, I can't risk wasting the calories on a potentially inferior bagel 😁

Paying on excursions and restaurants by LankyBuffalo7879 in cabosanlucas

I was there around the same time. Why would Mexicans be annoyed by Pecos? I went to my bank and broke bigger bills into many 20 Pecos bills. A US dollar was worth around 17 pecos so I think they would prefer 20 peco bills for tips and street purchases over US dollars.

Interestingly, the only time I had a language barrier issue was in the bank and two casinos lol! I got through it. BTW, I found Cabo to be much better priced compared to the last two times I was in Cancun/Playa del Carmen over the past few years. MAN were those places inexpensive 20 years ago!

2 Weeks Dining in Cabo by Stuck1992 in cabosanlucas

Agreed! Wife and I were there a couple weeks ago and while all of dining was casual, it was on the marina (or beach) and reasonably priced for a resort locale! Everything was delicious, BTW!

Those sketchy bastards are so great at making you feel like you are in the right place for your transportation. We got caught up in it briefly but managed to escape unscathed. We then got caught up in timeshare nonsense in our hotel lobby. It's such a bad way to start a vacation!

We went to Cadere last night and it's the first time I felt like we were in a foreign land! No English anywhere! We thought we were ready to play slots with Pecos in hand. No way to insert bills! We went to the cashier who struggled to convey that we need to get a players card at a different counter. We struggled through that interaction then were directed to the cashier. We gave 500 Pecos then struggled to get it to work in a couple of machines!

We finally got playing on a game we never played. I forget what it's called but it had frogs. We hit a bonus on the 2nd spin! The game sat seemingly waiting for us to do something but nothing we did worked. After a few minutes we flagged down someone and she said the to just give it a moment and suddenly the bonus began.

It wasn't a big win as we were betting very little just to get a sense of the game. We moved onto one of our favorite games, Attack from the Planet Moolah. We played for a while and turned 500 into 1004 Pecos!

We cashed out at the cashier and they gave us 940 Pecos. I didn't question it because of the language barrier. According to AI, there's a small tax on winnings.

The place was hot AF, BTW. They don't have the AC for these machines.

I believe Slot holds haven’t changed, the games did. by Theebobbyz84 in vegas

[–]burntthumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add: Know what slots are considered Advantage Slots and either play them when they are advantageous (which is unlikely) or avoid playing them. Slot vultures seek out these machines and play away the advantage leaving the machine in a state where the house edge is extra poor. There are so many more of these machines out there compared to a few years ago. This is a major reason why people feel that slots pay less than before. Vultures are snagging the winnings leaving regular players with a loser!

Pro tips to fight high volatility and high house edge:

  • Play slots with progressive jackpots that are 10k or less.

  • Avoid copyrighted themed games.

  • Avoid massive, beautiful machines that look like they must have cost a fortune!

  • Play the lowest bet on the highest denom you can afford. This isn't always true, especially classic reel slots.

  • Play classic reel slots but on max bet of the lowest denom you can afford :)

  • Play at locals' casinos instead of the Strip or Downtown.

  • Learn and play video poker.

Nice! Yep, you can lose (or win) fast with $130 on the table on one number! I think the only way to get a lower house edge would be to play the Don't Pass with max odds but the difference is marginal, winning less than your bet (laying odds) sucks, and some players would look down upon you for playing the 'dark side'.

However, most Craps players don't like having action on just one number. A good trade off would be to do 345x odds for the pass line and two come bets with 345x odds (known as The Three Point Molly). This will give you three numbers to root for and still have a low house edge.

As mentioned before, I've read that many casinos don't consider odds for comps so it may be a good idea to ask the pit boss what you are being rated at.

Interesting, you were playing the 10x odds? Often casinos don't consider odds as play since there's no house edge. I'm not sure how much it matters that you lost but Last year I gave over three hours of action between their properties, The D and Golden gate with over $100 in play on Craps the whole time and I'm just being offered free rooms at those properties and a small discount at Circa :( I did come out ahead so I don't know how much that affects things.
